Nestled in a scenic location, this charming pub offers a delightful dining experience characterized by generous portions and exceptional food. Diners rave about the extensive menu, from the hearty butcher's board to the exquisite steak pie, all served in a cozy atmosphere complete with a log fire. The young and attentive staff provide professional service, ensuring meals are enjoyable, although some guests noted minor drawbacks like tough beef. With a warm ambiance and accommodating service, including meal exchanges without charge, this inviting establishment is a must-visit for anyone crossing the Pennines in search of great food and a welcoming atmosphere.
The restaurant offers fantastic food at fair prices, with good service, a pleasant atmosphere, and a cozy log fire. It is a beautiful pub in a great location where you can also enjoy some nice drinks.

The food here is second to none, had a steak and was SO delicious, my favourite place to dine these days
My partner and I came across this pub a few weeks ago when we were redirected off the M62. It was a beautiful sunny day and the pub looked inviting, so we promised ourselves we would stop there for lunch the next time we crossed the Pennines. It turned out to be a great decision! We started off by ordering drinks, I chose a pint of Lee's Summer Ale which was a bit sharp for my taste. I mentioned this to the lady serving us and she kindly offered to replace it with a bitter at no extra cost, which was much more to my liking. The menu offered a good variety of options and we decided on the fish sharing platter. The portion was generous, with freshly fried cod goujons that had a deliciously light batter. The homemade tartare sauce and warm bread complemented the dish perfectly. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable meal. If you ever find yourself passing through the Pennines, I highly recommend making a detour to this pub off the M62 and treating yourself to a meal here.
