You can find the a good collection of art classic and contemporary painting, ceramic and some museum articles. The Gallary hold exhibitions for local artists some regular and some special. Which encourages local artists when these events are done. To get to it is a bit not easy because the traffic in Oldham and especially in that area is not easy to negotiate whoever there is a free parking there for enough time to... View all feedback.
What Chris Chapman doesn't like about Gallery:
It's a very interesting building. It is clean, airy, and modern. The gallery is on the upper floor, and once found is easy to navigate. Once found! The art on display is relevant and well selected. Visitors can expect to see something of interest to them personally. When I visited, I was frustrated by two things. Poor signage, and the cafe seemed to be closed to the public (the only notice was a hand written note on... View all feedback.
A very modern clean airy gallery, I enjoyed my visit, beautiful and warm inside on a cold day.
I had no time to explore everything, but what I saw was impressive. it is a large space handy in the center of olham and so easy to reach with metrolink.
I took my grandchildren in to have a look around the exhibitions. We were told that there was a room where the children could go and paint an L.S.Lowry collage. My grandchildren loved it. We then went into the children's library. There's several areas of seating and even a coat rack to hang your coats and bags. They had a little treasure hunt there and again, really enjoyed looking around for the pictures. All the staff in every area was really friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back. We'd definitely recommend going either as a family or even for some quiet time, looking around alone. A very pleasant place to be.
What better place to be on a miserable day. The museum offers more than just the history to the town called Oldham.

I would not want to put anyone off visiting Gallery Oldham, but hand-on-heart I cannot recommend it either.
