What Pietro S doesn't like about Southeast Botanical Gardens:
When I was a child my mom used to take me to the botanical garden of my city and teach me a lot of things about plants. Entrance free, simple place, pure nature. Today I visited this place in Okinawa, I felt I went to a sad Disneyland. Poor animals trained to entertain people, a scary amount of plastic souvenir for sale, every little activity is charged (but you can still use the restrooms for free). Plants are just... We went at night to see the lights so can't say much about how it is when the lights aren't up. It was beautiful, definitely good for couples like us going on a date. You also don't have to worry about having someone to take your photos. The people in line for every attraction were taking turns to take photos for the others and we're thankful for that because at least we have photos together. While I certainly did not go there for the animals, you can't see much at night because the cages were dark. I also did not see a lot of flowers. I'd expect a lot of flowers in a botanical garden. Parking was a little odd though because they made us park at the race track area and we had to take a bus (it's free) to the ticket booth. Our friends told us the nearby parking had lots of available spaces so I'm not sure why they didn't let us park there.
Amazing place to take children to. I have young children and toddlers, they all were able to enjoy something at the garden. The monkey exhibit was a bit disapointing because it was just a short walk thru their enclosure, but you still have to pay. Beyond that, everything else was a blast and a visit here is a must when in Okinawa.
Came here in the fall daytime. I can see that this would be impressive at night or in the spring in the day time. The insect exhibit was a little lacking but interesting non the less. The animal exhibits were probably the best part though you feel a little taken advantage of when you pay 200¥ for 5 seeds to feed the monkeys.
Great place to enjoy the natural, fresh air, and green view. Also can relaxing your mind and refresh. Recommend place to visit for foreigners if you are around center of Okinawa area.
A great place to go if you want to go on a date for a couple hours, but it's a little pricey. The capybaras a very friendly and cute. Lots of spiders
