Having read the positive reviews I was expecting good things of this restaurant. Sadly my expectations were far too high. We arrived fairly early, 7pm, and shown to a table in a corner underneath a blaring television (because we had kids? . It was turned down when we asked. Although it's a drive, the road to La Mattra will take you through vineyards and olive groves that only locals know about, hidden from tourists and crowds. As if this were not enough, young chef Nicolas makes it all worth it. He will personalized traditional dishes with exquisite touches. Well worth the detour. Pasta is homemade. Beef, cold cuts, cheeses and EVOO, are all produced locally by family members. Last but not least, Paola, the owner, is there, always, making sure things run smoothly. She will greet you with a sincere, open smile.

Lambchops (scottadito) followed with greens and other side dishes. The house wine, ‘Passerina San Filippo’, was quite good. We finished with homemade desserts with the lactose-free getting the top price. Pizza is only served at night, so we will go back to try it out.
My husband and I are quite picky when it comes to food. This family owned restaurant is absolutely amazing! We had several antipasti, two primi, a secondo, a some dolci. The food was fresh and so tasty, Paola’s cooking is fabulous, service is amazing. The olive oil they use is produced by the family and is just lovely. I highly recommend. It is worth driving out of one’s way to enjoy a meal at La Mattra.
Locale accogliente, perfetto per ogni tipo di occasione, cibo fantastico e delizioso, menù completo, personale molto gentile. Altamente raccomandato.
Sempre accogliente e sempre di qualità. Poco importa se vuoi una pizza o qualche cosa di più… Non delude mai sia in cucina che nella cortesia. Da consigliare senza riserve.
