Always a great experience. Have never been disappointed when we visit Maxim's in Oconomowoc or Brookfield... Great operators...
Stopped in for a quick togo item. Potatoes soup is amazing!!!! Never had anything like it before.
Beside the atmosphere I honestly cannot rate them. The food was horrible. We go to the one on Brookfield all the time and have NEVER had an issue. When I paid my bill and told the man at the register he said ohhhh I will check into that. I didn't even eat my food. Sorry I stopped there. Now the one I. Brkfield is amazing
It was busy when we arrived so we had to wait a little bit, but it was less than ten minutes. No idea what the waitress's name was because she didn't say, but the service was fairly decent. The bloody Mary I had was the best I've had in quite some time! The biscuits gravy was very good. It had a slightly more robust taste which was a welcome surprise. Scrambled eggs were okay. Hashbrowns were perfectly done. Warning: a side of corned beef hash is a large plateful, which was way more than anticipated, but it was good. My wife had the country omelet, which was good size and was delicious. Would go there again.
Situated in on old train depot, Maxim’s provides for a delightful breakfast experience. As you enter the building, you are greeted by an expansive model train landscape (with a number of reminders for children not to touch). Service was prompt and my coffee never made it below half a mug before a warm-up was offered. We ordered the Chorizo Benedict, the Meat Lover’s Skillet and some pancakes to share. It was all amazing! Great breakfast at a good price!
Nestled in an old train depot, Maxim's offers a charming atmosphere enhanced by train-themed decor. Guests appreciate the cozy vibe and prompt service, highlighted by generous portions and reasonably priced dishes. Breakfast favorites like the Chorizo Benedict and corned beef hash delight many, though some food inconsistencies have been noted. While service can occasionally falter—ranging from slow drink refills to inattentive waitstaff—the friendly ambiance, delicious pastries, and lively evening activities make it a worthwhile visit. Whether for a casual brunch or dinner, Maxim's promises a unique dining experience worth exploring.

4.5 Stars .. Love the location.. enjoyed watching two trains pass by our table's window!! Food was excellent (Mom has eggs Benedict .. she really enjoyed the poached eggs).. their bacon was flavorful (I mention this cuz too often I'm served bland bacon) .. the only suggestion I have is it would have been nice to have the same person wait on us instead of a different person every other time they stopped at the table.. it was weird. Maybe they were taking breaks or something but there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we first got there... And by the time we left there was only two more couples. I guess I won't fashioned... I like to be introduced to the waiter or waitress and if they aren't able to be around it's nice if they pass us off politely to the next person. It's just nice to know who to look up and look for if you want to ask for something... I felt awkward just asking the next person walking by for syrup and then another person coming through and giving it to me. Then another person coming through and asking if we needed anything more. Which I believe that's the same person we ended up with receiving are check from... Anyways I feel like I'm rambling. I definitely want to go there again... I just hope their service improves a bit. Love the trains going by.. Mom's favorite part too.
I had the Roast Turkey Dinner real red mashed potatoes, mixed veg of green beans-baby carrots-red onion. Three generous slices of Turkey over apple-stuffing and topped with a flavorful (not salty) gravy. Served with a side of soup or salad I choose salad and it was a dinner plate of mixed greens-cucumber-grape tomatoes and home style ranch dressing. Dinner came with a half-price desert that I took to go (beautifully decorated white chocolate raspberry cheesecake). Husband had a Reuben sandwich (huge traditional-deli style) with a side salad. Interesting location beautiful really and very good food. We were in town for business and now willing to drive an hour for the opportunity to dine here again. I’d say for the desert alone but the meal was really good too! Friendly service.
Full menu, so many options, Breakfast was still being served during the Lunch hour. I had a Chicken Parm sandwich with French fries as my side my friend had a hamburger with fries. The sandwiches were tasty, service was very good, a fair value. The building has historic value, an old train depot turned into a restaurant. The dinning area was open and spacious...I should have explored it more.
The food at this restaurant was amazing! I ordered the gyro and a cup of chicken dumpling soup. The server was very polite and attentive. My mom ordered a half salad, which was still very large. It was the chicken salad with dried cranberries, apple, Parmesan cheese, onion, tomato, and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I had a root beer to drink, and we also had two waters.
Stopped here in September 2021 while in town visiting some family. Had coffee and an omelette. The place is a clean, nice, cozy spot. Trains occasionally pass through. Food is good, and the service is decent... Why the 2 star review? Well because after I left the waitress confronted me and asked me if I was given good service, I replied I had and was then asked, well why didn't you leave a tip The thing is, I had left a tip. 20%. The waitress apparently hadn't read the receipt correctly. An apology? Nope, just said oh my goodness embarrassingly and ran away.Like, seriously? Are we really doing this? Confronting customers that didn't leave a tip or didn't leave one to the level you expected?

Whn u first walk n u see a train set nice size lots to look at. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean. The food was very delicious.
This was a great experience. It would be a great place to take kids. If you sit on the track-side of this restored train depot, the freight trains come roaring by the window real close, and the kids love it. They're known for their breakfast, we showed uparound midday and had breakfast ourselves. It was fantastic. The service was great. The food is great. The environment is supercool. We took a day drive from the northwest Chicago burbs, up through Kettle Moraine Forest, it's a great place if you justwant to drive and get away. Oconomowoc is a neat town too.
Loved this place! Food and drinks were delicious! We are train geeks so absolutely loved the atmosphere as well!
