We enjoy Hello Betty tremendously! We happened upon this restaurant the first time. We were looking for good fish and chips. Hello Betty delivered and then delivered again! The fish is firm with a crunchy batter that is not greasy or clumpy. It's theway fish and chips should taste! We also tried the shrimp and chips. Same light batter coating that has a great crunch. Bothdishes were fantastic flavor! The staff at Hello Betty was friendly and fast. You could tell they enjoyed working at HelloBetty. If you are looking for a great fish and chips, skip the place in Pacific Beach and drive up the coast to Hello Betty. Youwon't be disappointed!

The decor is fantastic, and the restaurant has a trendy vibe just one block from the waterfront. The service was decent. I tried the fish and chips along with the fish lunch platter, but unfortunately, the fries were cold in both dishes. I ordered a banana-flavored drink, but it didn’t taste like banana at all. I also noticed the bartender spilled half of the jigger into a bloody Mary and still considered it acceptable. The drinks were weak and overpriced, but the fish itself was hot and flavorful across the board. The highlight of the meal was definitely the appetizer—the bowl with tortilla chips. After spending $105 on lunch with those lackluster drinks, I'm not sure I'd return.

The atmosphere, our server, and the location all deserve five stars. Our food came out quickly! I ordered three tacos: the fried avocado, the cod fish taco, and the Baja fish taco. The Baja fish taco was absolutely delicious and definitely the highlight, while the avocado taco was a close second. Unfortunately, the cod taco did have some bone pieces in it, which detracted from the overall experience. My wife chose the fish and chips; the flavor was good, but it was a bit too greasy for my taste. We also had the chips and salsa with guacamole as an appetizer. We couldn't help but laugh, as it seemed like we got the bottom of the bag—the chips were mostly crumbs. Despite these minor issues, we had a lovely experience, thanks to our waitress who treated us like old friends. We will likely return, and next time I plan to order three Baja tacos.

Fantastic cocktails and delicious food! We tried the ceviche, oysters, and peanuts—everything was scrumptious. The location is stunning. Greta was amazing, very friendly and welcoming, especially since we were her first guests right at 11 am. Thank you to everyone at Hello Betty for a wonderful experience!

We went to Hello Betty on Easter Sunday, hoping for a quick lunch. The place wasn't very busy, but we were told by the hostess that we still had to put our names on the waiting list. Looking at all the empty tables was puzzling, but we weren't in any rush so put our names in. About 10 minutes later, we were seated and waited for our server. Long story short, they were understaffed for a holiday weekend. Our server was nice and kept apologizing but was as attentive as possible under the circumstances.I will say that the food was good. The clam chowder could've been hotter. We split a tuna melt with fries. The tuna melt was made perfectly to my husband's specifications with grilled parmesan cheese on the bread. It was very yummy. The ambiance was chill and quiet, like a sleepy, rainy afternoon on the coast. In all fairness, this place is good, so other than the staffing issues that day, I would still recommend it. Parking: The parking garage is walking distance, and there are usually spots available. If you want to park closer, there is a paid lot right across the street, but depending on the time of day, it is very difficult to find any empty spots. There is metered parking on the street, but these are usually taken, especially on the weekends.
