This was my first and last time staying at this hotel in OCMD and here 's why... The pictures make it look better than it is. We arrived on a Tues and stayed for 2 nights. The staff was very friendly throughout our stay but the rooms and amenities were not what I was expecting. We put our luggage in the room and went to look around and get some lunch. We ended up at the outdoor bar and I ordered a Pina colada (which was strong) and nachos. The nachos weren 't anything special but they were fine for a little snack. The space feels old, like tried to update but is still crusty. I 'm an interior designer so I do overanalyze but I wasn 't impressed with the makeover. Having never stayed here when it was the previous hotel you could totally tell they cheaped out. Basically your typical bad flip. The outdoor space didn 't feel clean, just felt old. I really feel like they have a good outdoor space that really could be nice. They need plants and just more of a resort feel (which they definitely missed the mark on the resort and beach club vibe). The pool, ewwww. Just strollers and moms and just felt super dirty and old. Like they forgot about it during the flip. If you 're going to have a pool in a parking lot at least make an effort to make it look like you 're not in a parking lot. They need big plants nice chairs and just a more inviting feel. I will say it was nice to have umbrellas and chairs available, however if you weren 't out early enough you were not getting an umbrella. One did open up on our second day so that was nice. I do like that they had servers who checked on you at the beach to see if you needed any food or drinks. Onto the room...eh. We got out of the elevator and put room was 2 doors down. The smell in the hallway was disgusting. Every time we left the room we had that smell hot us in the face. No idea what it was. We had the typical black hairs in the shower, so gross. We did like that there is no carpet in the room but the flooring color is just awful. I honestly couldn 't get past it... So not beachy and I 'm not sure if it was there before they renovated and they just left it, that 's pretty much what it looked like. The finishes looked like a 10 year old did them, like a white box made out of wood that the TV hangs on with a sloppy hole cut out of the bottom for the cords...a ceiling stain in the corner which leaked down the wall and rippled the drywall or wallpaper that they painted over. Probably was there prior also. The shower had a curtain which really grosses me out because you know they probably never wash it. They tried to add some modern lighting that looked cheap and overall not well executed. The a/c unit was loud! Which was actually probably a good thing to drown out the sound of the people above us until midnight! Sounded like they were literally picking up the bed and dropping it for for like 2 hours. I never really expect to sleep well in a hotel with all the different noises and this one is no exception. The balcony is pretty much unusable and our view, while we could see the ocean and bay we could also see the top of a roof with all types of equipment on it. Not pretty. I know everyone said housekeeping is awful, we didn 't use them so I can 't comment on that. As for the resort fee . It 's wayyy too much for the lack of amenities. The only thing was the umbrella and chair on the beach...other than that I don 't know who would want to use the pool and there was no gym. They have a cute open sitting area, however for our second and third day They had taken most of it away to set up for an event with all tables. Soooo, that basically took away the ambiance to even sit in that area. I don 't know why they consider themselves a beach club because there is literally nothing to justify that. There was live music once but by the time he set up we were done out in that area. The restaurant in the hotel definitely gets busy and parking is affected a little bit that wasn '
The Tide Room at The Shore Beach Club: A Delightful Dining Experience Last evening, we had the pleasure of dining at The Tide Room at The Shore Beach Club in Ocean City, Maryland. Our reservation was for 8:15 PM, and despite potential parking challenges, we found it surprisingly easy to find a spot. The restaurant’s recent remodel is evident as you walk up the stairs into the inviting dining area. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted at the hostess stand and seated immediately. We appreciated the choice between indoor and outdoor seating, and the variety of seating options available, from semi-circle couches to large arrangements for bigger parties. Our server was attentive from the start, quickly providing us with water, drinks, and menus. After a brief look at the menu, we received a thorough rundown of the evening’s specials. The noise level was perfect, allowing for a pleasant conversation, and the open-air setting provided a comfortable breeze. For appetizers, we chose the crab dip and crab deviled eggs. While both were enjoyable, the crab deviled eggs stood out as the better of the two. I also tried a drink called “Lost in the South,” a refreshing blend of lemon and bourbon that became my favorite part of the evening. For the main course, I opted for the boardwalk fries with a crabcake, a dish labeled as an Eastern Shore Maryland specialty. It was served with tartar sauce and met my expectations with its classic flavors. To finish off the meal, we each selected different desserts. The restaurant’s take on the Maryland Smith Island cake, a cookies and cream version, was a delightful surprise and possibly even better than the traditional version. I highly recommend trying it if it’s available. Overall, The Tide Room offers a wonderful dining experience with excellent service, a comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ocean City.
I wanted to share my recent experience with your Ashore Resort Beach Club in Ocean City, MD. We chose the hotel because of the reviews and verbal recommendations for our honeymoon. It was disappointing from the moment we stepped in to the hotel to check in. We requested early check in and they couldn’t accommodate. The staff was not friendly. They said that they would call us when it was ready. They called about 45 minutes later and checked in. The room was on the 6th floor and looked nothing like the pictures on the booking site. No ocean view, a 1.5ft triangular bump out did not classify as a balcony, no towels, no bags in trash cans, no complimentary water bottles and water damage in the corner of the room. My husband went down to the front desk and told them and they flat out told him and another couple (that were also in their honeymoon) that we could check out of we weren’t happy with the accommodations. My husband just asked for the room to switched so we got downgraded to to the 5th floor. The room was on the same side as the first one looked no different, coat hook ripped out of the wall, no soap, trash bags and when we checked the bed for bed bugs (I work in pest control) discovered there are no bed bug encasements. The “king” sized bed was too small for the bed frame. Mattress was old and worn and very uncomfortable. I went to the front and requested to speak to a manager. I was told Gary or Leonard would call me back. Went back to the room and called down to see if we could get a couple plays and forks so we could finally cut our wedding cake and was told that they don’t do that and we’d have to go do it ourselves. We left for the evening and on our way back in stopped at the front desk to speak to the manager because I never heard from them. They had left and I was told again that someone would call. The next morning there were kids screaming up and down the hall and a dog peed right in the middle of the hallway. On our way out I again stopped by the front desk to be hold they weren’t available. When we returned I didn’t bother stopping at the front desk. When we got back to the room we decided go down to walk the beach, upon returning the footwash area didn’t work. When we got back to the room the music was so loud and there were so many flashes we couldn’t even open the “balcony” door to enjoy the sound of the ocean. The next morning I was standing at the front waiting to speak with Gary before checking out when another hotel guest decided to cut in front of me and complain about so the same things that I have mentioned previously only to overhear that she was upgraded from a standard King to a suite the 16th floor. After standing there for 20 minutes being bitten by sandflies the whole time in the lobby. I was livid. When I finally spoke to Gary he asked out he could help and I told him nothing now since I was waiting for a call for the past two days. I asked for the name of the general manager and the management company information which was not provided. My husband has already responded to his hotel survey and left a review on TripAdvisor and Booking.com. As much as I would like to hear back from someone I don’t anticipate that happening with the experience I have already had.
Ok so we showed up Friday and they were closed but Christina made up for it Sat. The food (a simple chicken sandwich) was out standing.. real chicken.. fresh not frozen stuff... it was so good we went back the next day. The fish taco gives new meaning to flavor. The surf and turf Casadea.. well one in our party got it 2 days in a row! Hats off this is the place to watch! Parking: I really shouldn't tell anyone about this...
Great place to just chill and have drinks, bartender was awesome, food is good.
