For the amount of money that was paid for the room housekeeping did not come in every day one day we had to ask for toilet paper the coffee wasn’t refilled. The beds weren’t made except for one time. It was a little bit disappointing. View all feedback.
What Shawn Tolbert doesn't like about Carousel Resort And Condominiums:
I mean, it’s a dump, right? All of these Ocean City hotels are. They were all built in the 70’s and 80’s and time hadn’t been kind to them. It’s worth driving an extra 2.5 hrs to VA Beach for more modern hotels with resort-style pools and amenities for good prices. View all feedback.
This was not our first stay at the Carousel, but it may be our last. While the resort certainly offers a lot of family-friendly options, there are noticeable gaps when it comes to the “client experience”. We arrived with two separate groups of friends, and only one of our group was allowed to check in even though we all had similar reservations. The WiFi was not working, and despite escalating to a manager I was told it was my fault (note: other parties were complaining about the same issue). While our initial room was fine, one person in our party found that their room smelled of urine after check in, and they needed to transfer rooms. On Day 2 of our stay we came back to our room to discover it reeked of some sort of dead animal in the vent—initially the staff tried to claim it was the garbage from the restaurant, but nevertheless we we switched rooms. The dining experience was similarly fraught with unnecessary stress. One meal, which was supposed to be a split check, wound up being charged completely to one party, and another inexplicably was also charged (pro-rated) to the other parties. When confronted with this fact, the hotel then re-charged all of us again instead of crediting back the over-charge. Another meal ended with a surprise double-gratuity being added to the bill—we were a large party, and anticipated a 20% automatic tip added to the bill—which the hotel did—but they also then added an additional 20% “service fee”. Very shady, and if not for looking at the bill it probably would have gone unnoticed. If you made it this far you probably think this place is awful. It is not. There are many positive things about this place. The staff is basically all foreigners with summer work visas, and their lack of insight certainly makes getting real solutions more difficult. However, the hotel has a lot of fun activities for younger kids; offers great pool options (even though there is no supervision to keep rowdy kids from disturbing the peace) provides easy access to the beach; and is generally a good deal (price wise). Unfortunately the latest experience has led us to likely look elsewhere next time we come to Ocean City.
The hotel room was not good. Service was bad until I got a call from the manager she was really nice. I love the location. I stayed in tje the condos before and loved it bit tje hotel needs to do some major upgrades for the money they charge.
This place is a dump. Worked in the kitchen for one day and was full of roaches and mice
The location is the best thing about this place. They put us in a room that was dated and the tub looked like it hadn 't been cleaned in months. After we notified the front desk, they moved us to a better room . With all the money they make being a beachfront property, they need to reinvest into renovations. Stay away from the hot tub!
This was our first visit to Ocean City and The Carousel. We loved it!. For us, the hotel beats a rental or hotel with no amenities because our three kids had activities. They painted shells, made lip glass, did tie dye, limbo contest, etc. They enjoyed the skating show and we brought our skates and skated, too. We watched a movie. Got family pics. DJ Nigel was a hit and the arcades and pools were both fun. The extras were inexpensive compared to what we are used to paying. The room we chose was a perfect size and we would choose that one again. It 's not high end luxury, but our kids need to be able to be kids, too. Beds were comfortable. Pull out could probably use a new mattress. Beach proximity and view were a priority and we had both. Our balcony was fantastic. Tsunami food was decent and we had two very good meals at Reef. As new visitors, I wish we had been offered a little more information. We took a really long route to our room with the luggage cart and found a much more direct route later. We would have liked some general information and suggestions for the area. We also didn 't ask questions, so that might be on us. If I had to choose one thing to rave about, if would be the professionalism of the staff. Everyone with a Carousel uniform was in character all the time. People held doors open for us and said hello. I also did not hear any side personal conversations or complaints about work between employees in the hallways. It seemed like they always had somewhere to be and something to do accomplish. They appeared to like their jobs. That 's a huge plus. The staff running the kids activities were awesome. We saw a manager working the floor at Reef supporting his staff. Just all around good business. See you next year, Carousel!
