Braised Onion - Ocala

We were in Ocala, Fl for the week and came across the Braised Onion and it was amazing. Chef Felix prepared everything PERFECT!!!! If you are looking for amazing food, this is the place for you.

We dined with friends on November 15, 2014, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience compared to our previous visits. It took a long time for our drinks to arrive, and unlike before, no bread was offered or brought to the table. When I inquired about the Riesling wine, our waiter admitted he wasn't knowledgeable about the wine selection. One of the chicken dishes was undercooked, with a red center, and the prime rib was just mediocre. After our meal, we all expressed uncertainty about returning. We love the music, but it wasn't as enjoyable as in the past. To top it off, when we requested some crackers for our soup, the waiter informed us that they no longer carry them. This felt rather cheap.

The fried green tomatoes were outstanding! We also enjoyed the salmon, meatloaf, mac and cheese, sweet potato, and bread, all of which were very good. The string beans with pancetta were exceptional as well. However, the one dish we didn't enjoy was the cream of mushroom soup. It had a harsh flavor reminiscent of the broth in French onion soup, and the soup was overly thickened.

We visited on Saturday evening around 7:30 and had a fantastic dinner. The atmosphere and music were delightful, and the food was exceptional! We will definitely be back again. Additionally, our waitress, Joann, was wonderful!

Best place to eat in Ocala! So delicious!!
