We sat down on the restaurant and only looked at the reviews afterwards...a chill came down my spine. We had a light lunch due to having had a late breakfast, so we only ate some entrees and a big salad. What we ate was good and tasty. Can't say anything about main courses as we didn't have any. What Jamie K doesn't like about Restaurante Burgo:
We should have not when we heard the microwave ding, and given we were the only customers, it was for us. My husband ordered a barely edible pizza, and my cheese omelet appeared to have been made with moldy cheese. I showed the waitress the neon blue-green streaks (it was NOT blue cheese) and she shrugged it off, claiming it was a stain from the purple cabbage. It seemed more like mold or even a chemical or other exp... View all feedback.
We visited here and thought the menu looked okay. Two pizzas were ordered which were okay, my daughter ordered steak and it was raw and inedible. The stuffed pork loin was quite flavoursome as was the sea bream but the potatoes tasted mouldy! All in all very disappointing, and to top it all the bill was the most expensive for a meal since being in Portugal and having complained the steak was still left on the bill! It's rare that I write such a bad review but it did warrant it!
Choices of pizzas limited to two or max three ingredients: Margarita tomato cheese, Cheese 3 or 4 cheeses, Tuna tuna, cheese onion Plus some meat options which did not appeal to us. The worst thing, we ordered 'mixed salad '. How can you go wrong, right? One expects at minimum lettuce, tomato, perhaps a cucumber, an onion if you 'r lucky some fetta or sheep cheese (as there is plenty in Portugal). But no, we received a plate of lettuce, red cabbage topped with processed supermarket slices of some type of ham processed shredded supermarket cheese. Too bad if you thought mixed salad only contained vegetables! The service needless to add was below average. We left paying the bill, cold hungry, wondering how we could be so silly to eat there in the first place (even our expectations were not high to start with, we were just hungry hoping for a simple meal).
We ordered veal meat, codfish with cheese and peppersteak. It was horrible. It looked that we get the leftovers From other guests. No service at all and when we wanted to complain they looked if we where crazy. If you want to get poisened please visit this place.
Recommended by Rick Steve’s. We tried it, and it was absolutely great! Make sure you try the “Octopus Burgo Style”.
This restaurant was recommended by another that was closed for the evening. We're a little unsure as to why. The food was very average. If you want good Portuguese food, I'd recommend going elsewhere. We ordered a pork dish and some bread. We were shocked that butter was charged, if you wanted it with said bread, but alas, we went with it. The pork was tasteless and the fries were awful. They had no ice for the drinks but the servers were very nice. Not a place we'd go back to.
