Contribute FeedbackMy wife claims she had the best fish here during our 2.5 weeks trip in Portugal. My meal was not spectacular but was very good as well. She ordered a single dish and I got a menu with bacalhau. Prices were the best considering the several more expensive restaurants around. The place has a beautiful bar inside but the restaurant part is normal. The owner/waiter was friendly, we talked for a while but I ordered a goat cheese and he brought me cow cheese, insisting that was goat cheese... He was not aggressive though, maybe more like a misunderstanding from his side. In fact, order one thing and get something else seems to be standard in Portugal... I'm a portuguese native speaker btw...
When it’s not high season, you might find this deceptively small bar restaurant a little on the lonely side. We’ve done it 2 days in a row now and besides our group of 4, the place was almost empty. But don’t let this put you off. The meal and drink offerings, although limited (which seems the ‘go’ around here), we’re excellent. If you’re off the seafood, which is on every menu, try the Pepper Steak with chips, rice and vegetables. Might seem a strange mix- but it’s beautifully cooked and presented. The meat was tender and tasty, the vegetables were fresh and not of the frozen variety, and the chips were crisp and crunchy which is not always the case in this very touristic location. The ice-cream dessert was huge (3 different kinds included) comprised a million calories and was mouthwatering. Or alternatively, the Wafer Cake will put you in a sugar spin. But both did the job well and represent excellent value for money. In fact, Bar and Restaurant Biquinha is a great little find and easily missed. The service (although a very quiet night) was excellent notwithstanding very little English being spoken. Highly recommended if you’re after a reasonably cheap and cheerful experience in pleasant surroundings. You’ll like it. We might even return for a 3rd time....
I gave 5 starts because my wife claims she had the best fish during our 2.5 weeks trip in Portugal. My meal was not spectacular but was very good as well. She ordered a single dish and I got a menu. We were trying to find something reasonably priced and this seemed the best. We're so glad we went in! The baked cod fish and pork and prawn kebabs were amazing. In fact, everything was cooked to perfection and the coffee at the end was amazing too. Service was polite and quick and there was a definite feel of authenticity. All that for a good enough price considering the overpriced restaurants around!
This restaurant is located outside the walls, but is worth the detour, the food is good and the prices very low, possibility of taking a menu even in the evening for less than 13e!!!! Sufficient quantities. Server discreet but pleasant as the atmosphere. I recommend.
