What Sibylle Walker doesn't like about Chilhuacle Rojo Cooking Classes:
horrible experience, rude instructor who was abusive to the group. He was having an off day due to personal circumstances but insisted on continuing while berating all in attendance with poor attitude and rudeness. The 5 star ratings on here are frankly astounding. I paid for all of my ingredients and loaned the instructor money for purchasing ingredients for the group, I ended walking out due to his rudeness and was... View all feedback.

We had 3 cooking classes in Oaxaca and that was by far the best. Went to market bought our fresh ingredients and we were asked what we liked and Taylor’s the menu for us. The staff was excellent and friendly. Excellent!!!
This is the best and most instructive cooking class I've taken. Koch Jose is so creative in his kitchen and he gives the knowledge to you. The most unique part of his class is that he is sitting with you at the beginning to create a menu. Then take a trip through the market where it gives you background on local products. Back in class he gives you the techniques, but then allows you to experiment with your creative freedom. We have made this class for two seperate trips to Oaxaca and cannot wait for our next. Thank you Jose!
If you like food, this place is great. It is a restaurant where there is no menu, cook cooks every day, with endless local options for vegetarians, vegans and meat lovers. Well, if you like food and are curious about cooking up ground, this is also the place to do it! For a really fair price, you have personal lessons from chef Jose Luis, born from the Oaxaca area. The journey begins with the design of the menu with it, many options for animal protein lovers and again, even more for vegetarians and vegans. Then go with it to the local market, choose the fresh ingredients, come back and cook your full meal. If you ask yourself what it is to cook after I have seen documentary films like kitchen table or similar, what my case was, that was an experience I will never forget. In less than 4 hours we went to the market and cooked: Mol Verde and Amarillo, Tamales, Tortillas, tetelas, pigs short ribs, beans, agua de horchata and chocolate for dessert, all of scratches. Do not miss this experience! Enjoy!
Jose was incredible! He designed a vegan menu and is clearly passionate about cooking and Oaxacan Food!
