TripAdvisor reviewers have problems, this place should be evaluated waay higher.

This restaurant has improved over two years ago. We always go to hear a friend play music and dreaded eating there but this year it was ok. Nothing special but ok.

We had lunch the other day at Samurai. Service was good and the food was fair. It was not the best sushi we ever had but was a nice change from the normal beach fair we have had during our stay in Puerto Escondido. The...beach and surroundings are very nice and Zicatela is our favourite beach. Being on the ocean I had expected a bigger selection of sashimi but it was quite limited.

If you want to try something other than the local cuisine then having sushi is something to try here. It's located on the beach with a beautiful view of the Pacific , local dogs , surfers, honeymooners , and families. I enjoyed our drinks , the tempura shrimp and the waiter was a nice guy and helpful. We tried quite an assortment of sushi , lots with local fruit which were odd but tasty . I don't know if it would be something I would order again though being here it just seemed like the right thing to try . The food is fresh , tasty and the view is lovely. It's a layed back feeling so if you are in a hurry , put that aside and relax because this a about enjoying your meal and vacation. We tried lots of their different plates and if I were to return I most likely would be eating the shrimp tempura. It's locally owned so go and support this cute beach restaurant.

This was a wonderful surprise for us as we love our sushi. It is a great a restaurant to watch the sunset and have a first class meal. In addition to sushi, they also offer teppanaki, teriyaki and tempura which are all delicious. The manager, "Sebi" and all the staff provide an excellent service. If you enjoy Japanese food this should be a must on your list.
