Beautiful venue with very warm staff and incredible food. I'd made a reservation via OpenTable and was disappointed to be told (only when I arrived) that we would be seated in the downstairs bar where no other diners were and not the roof. Their primary visual selling point is, of course, the rooftop so do make sure you confirm in advance where you'll be seated. Other than seating issue, everything else was really incredible and would most certainly return next time I'm in Oaxaca.
The best terrace view of any restaurant we've been to in Oaxaca. Wonderful food, good service
Most amazing cuisine in Oaxaca. Amazing views as well if you seat upstairs on the terrace. Cocktails with mezcal were exquisite so we had 2 each of us. Cuisine was well balance with amazing taco of 4 meats including bone merrow. My husband good braised brisket and it was as well very very tasty. Service was on point.
After reading recent uncomplimentary reviews, I was loathe to eat this restaurant, but we’d just arrived in Oaxaca, and I really wanted to experience the amazing food venues that are here. This restaurant had availability for us so we took it. I must admit that their menu also made me drool when I was reading it online. We asked to sit outside and were taken upstairs-multiple flights-to a rooftop area with a great view of the city and a spectacular view of lightning, miles away, obscured by clouds, and so distant that we never heard thunder. We never got rained on either which was nice. Our waiter Miguel spoke perfect English and was really very good at his job – explaining each dish as it was served, but not being too interfering while we were actually eating it. We had four appetizers and one main dish, and four glasses of wine for $125 which I thought was a very good price for the quality of the food. My first appetizer was a shrimp and sorbet ceviche and the flavors melded together incredibly and unexpectedly well. My next dish was an aqua chili pork appetizer with a lime dressing that was killer. This was my least favorite dish though because the pork was a tiny bit dry. Nonetheless, I ate it all! And then I had a traditional Oaxacan dish which I can’t name because it’s late at night and I’d rather send this review then get it 100% perfect. It had mushrooms in it and cheese on a tortilla and ooooooh the sauce! That was absolutely incredible. Incredible. All in all I thought it was a fabulous meal. My husband had an appetizer which he liked a lot and when I tasted it I wasn’t that impressed but he liked it a lot and that was what was important. And then he had a main dish of the pork belly tacos and I thought that the pork was really subtly cooked and delicious. All in all, it was a delightful way to end a satisfying day of walking around the city and sightseeing. Highly recommended when you want a spectacular meal with unusual ingredients that work together perfectly.
Interesting take on Mexican food. Really enjoyed it. Excellent beet salad, really great tacos and an interesting dessert. Our waiter was well versed on what contained gluten. Make sure you sit upstairs on the rooftop patio. Great views and if you’re lucky even fireworks over the church.
