Really tasty food, accommodating to dietary requirements, big portions. Especially impressed with the salt pepper okra and the vegetable sizzler. Will be eating from here again! View all feedback.
What California1989 108 doesn't like about Desi Lounge:
Food was bland and not spicy at all, only decent thing was the chilli mogo and paneer. Waited nearly an hour to get mains after starters, so the service was slow and disappointing. I'd heard good things before I went but was not impressed on my first (and last) visit. View all feedback.
The interior of this restaurant is not quite impressive, but eating is very good. would have been on this place already some paints also ordered rippers, on each time, eating was really good. also the staff is very helpful.
Leicester has a plethora of established and new Indian dining choices, in particular the “ pub curry” types of which this is one. I had wanted to visit here for quiet a while and quiet frankly, I wish I hadn’t. Firstly the positives.. There aren’t any. Now the rest.. This place doesn’t accept cards. Cash only. So one of us had to leave the restaurant and find a cash point and then come back. This is 2022, not 1974. We were seated in what is effectively a pub. Nothing wrong with that. Except we were placed in the immediate vicinity of the rather unsavoury locals who only drink here and subjected to some pretty disgusting language. The table adjacent to us had a large family celebrating a birthday with lots of children and elderly family members. This didn’t seem to put off the locals with their blue language and I noticed what appeared to be a senior manager of some sort talking with them and not remotely concerned about the language of what I can only assume are his friends. The menus came, stick and clearly covered in dried sauce, the only her had missing pages. By now I new we should just LEAVE. We were then told to buy drinks FROM THE F G bar.. and pay at the bar. And they refused to serve pints of soft drinks, you are forced to buy premium bottled drinks only. We all know why. When ready to order the food we had to leave our seats and ask the man behind the desk to take our order. He said he would send a waiter. Up to now, we hadn’t seen one. The waiter came and took the order. When asked questions or given requests about how we’d like the food, he just shook his head very politely and said YES to every single question. This pretty much told us what was coming. The food came, the starters were mostly ok but the paneer pakoras were nothing short of revolting. The mains also came and most were ok, but mine was so salty it was inedible. When I saw what appeared to be a waiter at the far side of the pub, I approached him and explained my tadka daal was far too salty to eat. He shook his head very politely and just said “ YES”. So I went hungry. I needed the restroom but they were out of order so I had no choice but to go in the car park around the back. The bill was reasonable and portions generous but without question this has to be the very very worst dining experience I’ve ever encountered. Ever. They should place a sign by the door requesting you wipe your feet on the way out. Avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid this place. There are dozens of far superior alternatives. God punished us for not going to Paddy’s Marten inn.

Trying to find something positive to say but it’s very difficult after the disappointing meal we’ve just received. The “ onion salad” was just badly chopped raw onion, the curries were awful... so salty to be almost inedible and the onion bajhis were falling apart...a waste of £35 as most of it went in the bin, along with the menu to make sure we don’t order from here again :
