I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the Café Agnes inside the Schilliger garden center in Gland, canton of Vaud, Switzerland. This café, located inside a garden center, is a truly magical place to visit around December and the Christmas season. The entire space is beautifully decorated with a festive Christmas theme, creating a warm, fairy-tale atmosphere that is well worth experiencing, even just for a break. It’s the perfect spot to relax after exploring the garden center or the Christmas displays, with a good selection of drinks and pastries. We only tried the pastries: the flan was well executed and enjoyable, and the homemade tart was also good, with fresh and tasty fruits. The pastries are pleasant and satisfying, even if not exceptional. The café also offers hot food options, which we did not try this time. Service was very fast, prices are reasonable, and the setting is undeniably charming. Overall, a lovely place to stop for a coffee or a sweet treat, especially during the festive season.
UPDATE: I come here to relax and get some me-time. But they really should NOT allow people to watch videos on FULL VOLUME. It ruins the relaxing atmosphere. Have people forgotten that earphones exist? It’s not that expensive. If you want to have some delicious cakes, coffee other local Artisenal refreshments surrounded by so many gorgeous plants filtered sunlight… this is the place for you! It’s my happy place in Switzerland! They even have premium Swiss made kola using only natural flavors color. Finally a cola I don’t feel guilty about The blueberry cheese cake is amazing and so is the apple crumble with caramel on top. I would love to come for lunch one day to try their play du jour which seems reasonable at Chf 24 but I wonder if it comes with anything else other than a main dish.
Charming café-restaurant in what is clearly the best (and the most expensive) garden centre in our canton. If you want to have lunch here, eating from an interesting menu, don't forget to book your table a day or two in advance. Before and after lunch hours there is usually no need to reserve except during week-ends when it's better to avoid the place because of the elevated high frequency sound level. Good value for money and quick and courteous service.
Just fantastic lunch break! Delicious good, daily menu, fantastic desserts (also non gluten! . Very welcoming and helpful stuff. And all this with green plants around :
