We only ate there once, as there are several nice spots in town for veg/vegan options, but the staff at the restaurant were definitely the nicest we’ve met. Beyond that, we had dishes we had not had before such as the local tomato salad which is made from tomatoes grown on the lake’s floating garden, as well as a masala dish with black chickpeas (delicious!!! . My personal recommendation is to not go for the set menu but instead spend a few more dollars and try some really unique dishes.
Went here every day for dinner whilst in Nyangshwe, even twice for breakfast. The food was delicious and the owner and his family the loveliest people (they even offered to open the restaurant earlier than normal (6 am because we had a flight to catch. The samosas and onion bhajis are yum! They have a vegan menu plus even though they also serve meat, they cook everything seperately : Absolutely fantastic!
3 days and 3 visits later, we couldn’t be happier to patronize Naamaste Kitchen. As we looked over their menu specials today out front, a customer *got up* and told us we had to come-in and try the food: it’s seriously delicious, and we found out he’s Also been eating here every day since he arrived. The whole staff is so gracious, they cater to ALL our special (fussy vegan requests, and upon hearing that we want ‘no spicy’ b c my partner is having stomach issues, one of the guys brought over a packet of herbal medicine for her to eat after the meal! (And it actually helped, after a week of discomfort.. we picked up more of the stuff, with the tiger on the package. The mixed veg curry is unbelievably tasty, the Inle tomato potato salad is simple to look at but just perfect to balance out the meal, and the creamy-but-not-Creamy blended dal soup is rich but light, None of the food is oily, All of it is fresh, and Everyone there is just amazing. As we left tonight, and all 3 of the guys waved us farewell, I noticed one of the owners giving his dear old mum a shoulder massage.. and I called back with certainty: “See you tomorrow!” Would give 5-stars if possible (HappyCow guidelines allow only 4-stars for restaurants that served meat.
The restaurant is located on a quiet street and has a pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent, especially the combination of Dahl soup, Chana masala, Veg Curry, Rice, and Chapati. The owner, who speaks fluent English, and his family were very hospitable and friendly.
During our four-day stay in Nyaung Shwe, we visited this restaurant three times because of its wide selection of vegan options that were delicious! The chef was incredibly friendly and ensured us that they used separate pots for vegan dishes to meet our dietary needs. The staff was also very welcoming, and though the restaurant was simple, it had a nice ambiance. My favorite dish was the 'Alo Gobi', but we also tried three or four different curries. Grateful for finding places like this!
