I took my family to El Cora for lunch, what a wonderful experience, you drive around 3 miles deep into the Nuevo Vallarta jungle on a great road. The crocodile farm is excellent and fun, while eating their excellent lunch you are looking out at the crocodiles swimming in the pond. Vey much recomended. View all feedback.
El Cora is located in the middle of a crocodile and zoo-like animal preserve (a "cocodrilario") in Nuevo Vallarta, 3 km off the beaten track and world away from the rest of the Puerto Vallarta area. It costs 15 pesos per person to get in and these funds are for the care and feeding of the critters. There is a lovely open air restaurant with an open (and spotless) kitchen preparing a wide variety of the freshest seafood; you can tour the grounds before or after your meal. They make a great magarita and the vino tinto on offer is very tasty. The service is excellent, although not much English is spoken, the staff members are all charming. The grounds are like a trip to Gilligan's Island - I expected the Skipper or Maryanne to appear any second as we explored the flora and fauna (which includes badgers, geese, goats, boars, and of course some amazing crocodile specimens lounging in mud). There are footpaths and rickety wooden bridges everywhere - watch your step, but it's fun and worth the visit. On our last visit we enjoyed huge shrimp prepared several different ways including on crispy tostadas, and in a delicious brandy cream sauce (you can have a tequila sauce), a breaded catch of the day, and "relleno" which was mahi mahi stuffed with creamy shrimp - all fresh and tasty and nice-sized servings. We usually take our visitors here because it is such a different environment and dining experience - everyone has loved it.
