Contribute Feedback What Lotte Lorenz doesn't like about Barfusser:
typical German restaurant with regional cuisine. we have ordered with intention pork and roast typical breastwormstel. all appetizing and average. well dosed. a little rough but friendly service. dark beer nothing special. we recommend it for an unrequired dinner. View all feedback.
Good grounded kitchen to fair trips and the self-breaded beer is excellent.Great room and a beautiful terrace make this locally a good place to stay
We were looking for a place to eat before departing for Vienna. Chanced upon Barfuesser and decided to give it a go. I had a schnitzel which was not quite what I was expecting as it wasn't breaded and fried, but was just doused with some sauce. My husband had some Nuremberg mini sausages. We also sampled the house brews. Visited the loo before we left and I was surprised that the restaurant extended such a long way - it was massive and the beer tanks of the brewery were visible. Very impressive and looks like a nice ambience (was empty at that time of day in the late afternoon). When we got the bill, the waiter pointed out that we had been charged the wrong amount for the beer, as we ordered small beers rather than large. There was also a fee which I queried him about and he said it was a tax/ charge. Decided not to leave a tip in that case!
From the outside it hardly notices, but inside they are greeted by very beautiful wall paintings, the room is very large and typically Bavarian. do not expect any order and elegant circumvents: in perfect style, the waiters always have much to do and become hastily, but nothing personal. the device is typical, the beer (I love the axe) very good, and you find typical furry. I tried 8 small sausages with sour wort, really delicious. the prices are not cheap, but also not high, apart from the cheap beer. the only mistake is that they are not treated with gloves, but hey, it is a brewery.
This restaurant is located in the Mautkeller (the basement of the Mauthalle\old Customs House). It has a fitting medieval feel to it, having originally been built between 1498 and 1502. The building was bombed in 1943, but repaired/rebuilt about 9-10 years later, and offers a typical menu of German food and locally-brewed beer.
It is a huge place with outside and inside tables where you can find typical Bavarian dishes. Although it can be viewed in a way as a place for tourist (position, type of served dishes, size of the place, opening times,) the presence of local customers is still numerous and the quality of the served products is absolutely good. got two portions of pork shoulder with sour wort and two very good white wines. the cost kept in limits and the service was fast and accommodating: we come back!
