Went for brunch and waited minutes for our table despite other tables being available and the hostess lying about it. Once seated, the wait for someone to give us menus and then serve us was too long considering not being crowded. Food is average with very small portions, but very for two small pieces of toast with a litte crab salad on top? Nice looking room especially during the day but poor service and expensive s... Absolutely love this place. Everything on the menu looks good. We had the octopus app, this is delicious. As well as oysters. I had the branzino filet, this dish is absolutely amazing. Fish is super fresh and so flavorful. The sides are perfect. Wife had the paccheri pomodoro, so good. Finished off with a white chocolate cheesecake.... Yummy! The food was outstanding. The ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. What takes this place to a whole new level though is the service. The staff is amazing! This place is great, highly recommended it.
Four of us went for dinner for the first time on the recommendation of friends. It was well worth the expense. Each of us started with different cocktails (something that I never do) which were tasty, and the went onto wines during the meal. The appetizers of roasted oysters and large shrimp were excellent. The main courses of the duck frites for two, the swordfish and the beet salad all very tasty and enjoyable. Feeling satiated, we shared one dessert; the chocolate mousse. I give the place five stars, a very rare score for me. Our waiter was personable and knowledgeable and attentive one could not ask for more. We were amongst the last diners in the place but were never rushed. If we are back in the area again we would dine here again, and recommend the restaurant to friends.
Friend had raved about this place, but I realize now it's likely more for the very knowledgeable bartenders. My food was kind of awful, actually. My prime rib tartare app was not a fresh pink, but mottled with grey and brown beef...not sure if old meat or partially cooked? There was also a shrimp peel in it. I separately ordered 2 of the shrimp cocktail, but I could taste what seemed like dirty hands had touched them, not cold enough either. I had the fish and chips special and never have experienced such stringy fish...didn't know fish ever got stringy...the fries were bland and super dry. My husband was also not impressed with his food and we both feel it was extraordinarily overpriced for what it was. We are in our 50s and very experienced restaurant visitors in Fairfield county. This place seemed like a lot of attitude with few fine touches to back it up. Kind of a d-bag parade, which I usually enjoy, but the food was certainly sub par.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. A “do not miss” when you’re in Norwalk CT! #tavernatgraybarns
Incredible selection of liquors (Japanese whiskeys and more). Great view from the bar area, service was top notch and atmosphere was lively. Food was expensive but well worth it. The quality was unbelievable. I had the carrot appetizer and chicken breast large plate. Haven’t had chicken taste thay good that in my life. Chocolate torte dessert was great too. Everything tasted like it was made with care and expertise. Valet was a bit scattered but it was busy. Wish there was self parking unless I didn’t know about it.
