Scenic Hotel - NORTON SUMMIT

Lovely, ever-changing menu with creative dishes beautiful spot (we love the balcony- great views) staff are lovely too!

The female staff that waited on our table were lovey and really helpful. Meals were ok.... Eggplant parmigiana was undercooked, kangaroo was overcooked and the chicken dish was fine. The most disappointing part of the evening was when the manager decided to light up a...cigarette while he was sitting at a table metres from us in the outdoor dining area. We had finished our meals but were enjoying sitting out on the balcony, finishing our drinks and catching up with our friends. We decided to leave as he had absolutely no regard for the comfort of his patrons.

We had a Saturday lunch here after reading lots of positive reviews about this place. Lovely drive to get there, and the building has a lovely location and character. The inside of the building has a really nice warmth to it with open fires in...some rooms. Lots of natural light gets in as well. Lovely long space at the back for a warmer day to sit and have a drink, etc. Service was efficient and friendly. Menu choice is far more interesting than a usual pub, and strikes a nice balance between a pub and a fancier restaurant. I tried of the entrees' rather than having a main as feedback from other reviews indicated some standouts: Cheddar Croquettes with piccalilli Really good...probably my favourite dish Ortiz Anchovy Soldiers Really good again, Southern Fried Chicken Was good as crispy outside and moist inside...but I think due to other rave reviews I was expecting more Overall, highly recommended and look forward to returning!

The Scenic has a lot going for it! Service is so so nice and engaging and for that reason we can forgive a couple of slip-ups but, even though they were rectified very speedily, they still were errors. We ordered two entrees and they brought...only one and placed it as a share dish in the middle so obviously the waitress hadn’t remembered both entrees when she submitted the order. We also asked for chips instead of mash with a main and still mash was delivered.....however within about a minute flat they had addressed both issues. So well done for that. I do think chips and an interesting salad would be better than mash with the roo schnitzel anyway, to make it look less of a stodgy-looking dish. That said, I’m just amazed how the roo wasn’t dry inside amazing!! The beef tartare in the Smiths packet of crisps is great fun. Not the greatest meat quality but very bearable for the ‘fun factor’. The fried chicken divine. We loved that they offered pours of the red wines that we chose by the glass, before committing, and then the pours seemed quite generous to us. We also loved the general ambience and the colour palette of the new decor. It was just ‘casual’ enough but just ‘nice’ enough too. The loos sadly really let the place down (few of the locks actually work on the cubicles) so that, together with the errors with taking the orders, means we can’t go to full marks. Next time for sure! A lovely spot.

Warm cosy romantic vibes! This place is unreal, food is delicious and well priced, wood fires to keep you warm and friendly staff. We had the BEST chicken ever and the anchovies starter was to die for. Would recommend! The only thing that...I would say is the parking is defiantly not the best
