Scenic - NORTON SUMMIT

Had an absolutely fantastic meal in the scenic hotel this afternoon. ravioli with goat cheese, prosciutto and rocket absolutely spectacular. friendly service, great weine and a wonderful place to relax and take into the landscape. will be back in the near future.

It's a no from me.. After reading the completely different reviews about this place on US I had mixed feelings about going. But the location is so nice I thought I would give it a shot. I have to say it was a poor experience. I did wait far too long for my food (over an hour), and the service was indifferent most of the time. They also got my friends drink order wrong twice. The place (chairs/tables) does need updating too. Also, a small pet hate of mine, the smoke from the smokers area blows into the eating area through an open door there were several smokers so the smoke could be smelt all over the dining area. A gem. The Scenic has become my local. Friendly staff and great service. Upstairs has recently been renovated and looks lovely. Has a really welcoming community feel and food is consistently good. Appalling. As Norton Summit residents, we had a group table. The service was not welcoming and totally unprofessional. When asked questions about the food the response was how would I know . Food was ordered and did not appear for 45 minutes, despite only two other customers in the restaurant. Empty wine glasses were left on the table throughout the evening, despite nobody drinking the seriously over-priced wine on the winelist. Water carafes remained empty when used and not refilled. Awful experience. I was really looking forward to trying the Scenic Hotel with family today, as it had been highly recommended by others. I wish I had one good thing to say about the experience we had. We were a party of five adults with an infant. Our booking was bungled and we were left to settle for a totally inappropriate table in the front bar, directly downwind of the neverending parade of smokers outside the open front door not an ideal situation for a four month old baby to be in.
