Guests are welcomed by a cozy atmosphere, complete with an inviting fire and friendly staff. The quality and quantity of food impress patrons, making it a great value for money. Whether indulging in homemade cakes or hearty traditional dishes like steak and ale pie, visitors leave with a sense of warmth and satisfaction. Advance planning for opening hours is recommended, but this charming spot is well worth the visit.
Please be aware the Travellers Rest was taken over in February 2023. We kindly ask that you disregard any previous comments. During the day we now specialise in light lunches, coffee’s and afternoon tea’s, although we are still fully licensed. The bar is open on a Friday and Saturday evening and we host street food trucks every Friday. Thanks.
This was our 1st visit back to The Travellers Rest in over 2 years as the last time we went the food was dreadful. We were apprehensive as to what it would be like, it was lovely, nothing has changed except that on the bar there is a selection of home made cakes and scones. Club Sandwich, 2 chicken and avocado sandwiches, 2 soft drinks and 2 cakes for a very reasonable £33.00. We will definitely come back again.
Absolutely lovely little restaurant, I have to say it was the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had. Very friendly helpful staff, well worth a visit.
We were staying local so popped in on the off chance on day one and had a fab steak and ale pie with skin on chips, Mrs had Lasagne and chips that was also very nice so we went back the following night the pub was very quiet compared to the night before but we were not disappointed. We both had Medium cooked steak, and the Chef cooked it to perfection. This is a traditional pub serving excellent quality food.
Stopped at b&b local was recommended due to it being dog friendly and wow. Food was lush, good pricing and very welcoming with the dogs. Able to sit in the pub and not just at the bar or outside
