While the food, especially the curries, is frequently praised for its taste and presentation, issues with service and decor have left some guests disappointed. Complaints include long wait times, unclean facilities, and an overall tired ambiance. However, positive interactions with staff and unique historical insights have provided glimpses of potential. With comfortable rooms and a promising beer garden, the establishment seems to be a work in progress, making it worth keeping an eye on for future growth.
We were met at the door for our 6.30pm booking and informed they were not serving food because the chef had gone home! When asked why had they accepted my booking they denied knowing anything about our booking or the Opentable App. Disgusting behaviour, don’t waste your time here.
We were hit at the door for our booking of 18.30 clock and informed that they did not serve because the cook had gone home! when they had asked why they had accepted my booking, they refused to know about our booking or the opentable app. disgusting behavior, they did not waste their time here.
My sister and I had a fantastic takeout experience at the Schooner. The food was delicious, and we were served by a delightful young man. I highly recommend trying their Indian cuisine for a truly enjoyable meal.
OMG...where do I start! This place should honestly be shut down. We were going to stay here for a 'spooky experience '! So pleased we were saved from spending the night here. Well to start with, nobody answers the phones, there are no staff about when you go in.You are left standing at the bar for ages. Customer service is atrocious. The atmosphere is horrendous. It is dirty and mould on walls and ceilings. There is water dripping from a hole in the ceiling also. The chairs and settees smell and the worst thing ever is the rat poisoning and rat traps behind the chairs. Please DO NOT enter this building. There is some serious health and safety issues with this place. Could not wait to get out of here, after going in for a quick drink to check the place out.
Lunchtime Indian seemed a good idea after a good walk in the morning, rather tired surroundings but decided to give it a go since you cannot always judge the quality of the food by the surroundings, however I was quite wrong. The vegetarian platter was 2 x samosa’s and a load of onion bhajis, technically a mix but far below what you would typically expect. The salad accompanying it was obviously in mourning for the summer having passed and seemed about as depressed by the decor than we were. The mains came with all the flair of a wet flannel. Soggy rice masquerading as pilau, mains ok but tasted as if the gravy came out of a bottle. Wife liked her vegetables so some consolation. The naan seemed more like a paratha and certainly had never seen the inside of a tandoor. If you love Indian food, steer well clear, it does not taste like the chef does!
