We had booked a table for five and given a quiet table out from the main bar restaurant area where there were people having drinks on sofas. Started off well from a quiet point of view but then a party of around 12 arrived for drinks only and could then hardly hear ourselves speak while they literally stood over us talking and drinking while we ate. Not ideal. However we were there for the food and it was Sunday Roas... View all feedback.
What Lesdaw doesn't like about The Angel Inn:
Disappointing experience. The restaurant/bar has a nice ambiance, but the lunch we had was mediocre. The fish finger buns were lacking in fish and overpriced at £10. The beef sandwich had more substance but was still underwhelming. Overall, it was poor value for the quality of food. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. The establishment should put more thought into their lunch time offerings. View all feedback.
Very good friendly and efficient service and good food well presented. One of our party has a food intolerance but this was calmly understood and the chef went out of his way to offer a very good alternative. This is often not the case at other venues, so was particularly appreciated. Thank you.
Food was excellent tasted very delicious I had the sea bass and cheese board the sea bass well I havnt had such a lovely meal as that. Thanku.
We stayed at the Angel as a large family party recently. We booked most of the rooms and was offered a private dining experience for 15 guests on a complimentary basis. Communication with the manager Kevin, Lily and the rest of his team was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome and allowed access to dress the apartment and the private dining room for our son's 40th birthday celebration. The food was very tasty and well presented and everyone enjoyed their meals, including a very hearty breakfast following our overnight stay. My family and I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to other future guests. Thank you and well done to you all !!!.
Very tired place the carpet, if you can really call it that, is like that of a 1970's nightclub thin, and greasy black trail from door to reception and all the way up the stairs gruesome. The staff were helpful but over worked I think. Place very quiet in the evening when other restaurants in town were pretty busy i.e: very little available unless you had booked. Breakfast was sad and pretty grim. We had toast and croissant. I am not sure what they are using as butter but it is solid and crumbles like a cheshire cheese when cut. Only booked here for a couple of nights and ate elsewhere in the evening. We would have stayed in a b b but most seem reluctant to have you for only a couple of nights so we couldn't get in. However there is light on the horizon I hear another newly refurbished pub is going to be doing accommodation so that sound promising.
The pub is warm and welcoming and the menu changes with the season. The new Autumn menu didn’t disappoint with creative dishes for all tastes as well as the usual favourites. We both had the duck main course, beautifully presented and delicious. Puddings are also interesting and creative with some unusual ingredients all adding to the enjoyment of the evening. The best pub meal by far in Tynedale.
