We booked last minute and stayed for 1 night, but would happily have stayed longer. Lovely welcome, shown to room and were very pleased with it. Great view from window and warm and cosy room, not huge but perfect for us. The shower was brilliant plenty of hot water, could do with bleaching the edges but not a problem. We ate in the restaurant, food fantastic service great. The home made chips were the best we’ve eate... View all feedback.
What Roppa1969 doesn't like about The Anchor Inn:
The food was excellent great choice and very well priced. Top quality and great to see food from local suppliers. Unfortunately the poor service lets this place down, staff were unfriendly and not at all welcoming. View all feedback.
This fantastic country pub offers a wonderfully extensive menu. I thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom stroganoff, it was the best I've had in years. Mr S loved his pheasant pie, finding it both delicious and unique. He wants to return every day to try a different pie. "After many disappointments, I have finally found a place with great pies!" The restaurant is surrounded by lovely countryside views and has a nice spacious atmosphere.
The hotel features a well-liked restaurant bar that offers an extensive menu at a reasonable price. Definitely worth dining at.
This is a great pub with delicious food, although slightly pricier compared to other pub options.
Been a few times now and I love it and will go back many more times and highly recommend it to anyone who'll listen. But I'd stay well away from the Sunday roast dinners. Their beautiful but you get NOWT! 2 roasties and a teaspoon of mash topped with a sliver of meat and a sprig of veg isn't worth 15 quid sorry. It's not about the money, Its just NOT a Sunday roast. Plates should be loaded in a lovely warm country pub like this. Everything else on the menu is MAHOOSIVE and delicious. Everything else about the place is sooo perfect. Staff. Atmosphere. Service. Everything. Go now. Just stick to the normal menu.
We stayed here for a wedding we were going to at Healey Hall £15 taxi e.w. and were really happy. Nice friendly staff, good breakfast, clean room, very nice bathroom. We arrived too late to eat unfortunately but bought three of the pies to cook at home when we checked out and they were great so I am sure the restaurant would be excellent. Sure little bit of road noise but setting was gorgeous. Had blind and thick curtains to keep down the morning light waking us up which I like. Really good value for money in my view and I would definitely stay again if in the area.
