The food at this restaurant is beautiful and of amazing quality. I ordered the steak pie and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. What grahamp693 doesn't like about Blue Bell Inn:
We were looking forward to our meal here as previous reviews were good. Arrived on a snowy night and received modest reception. Pub seems to have been refitted recently and although nice it lacks cosyness and is too bright. Food was nicely presented but not particularly memorable after eating. Pudding portions were miserable for the high price. So ok but better places to eat in Wooler area. View all feedback.
The food at this restaurant is beautiful and of amazing quality. I ordered the steak pie and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The crust was perfect, both on top, bottom, and sides, and had a lovely old-fashioned flavor. The gravy was excellent and the beef was superb, succulent, tender, and full of rich flavor. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, slightly crisp but cooked through, and the mashed potato was very pleasing. My companion had the fish and chips, and her haddock was amazing with a crisp batter and tender, flaky flesh. Both the thicker portions and slim ends of the fillets were cooked perfectly. We both overindulged because we didn't want the meal to end. The service was friendly and attentive, and everything was spot on. It was a rare meal where everything was perfect.
Stayed for 2 nights and did lots of sight seeing. The location is great for Etal, Ford, Holy Island and Coldstream. Also the site of the battle of Flodden is 5 minutes away. Room was comfortable with all amenities. Breakfast was enormous and evening meals both nights were very tasty. Lambs liver melted in the mouth. Thai red vegetable curry lovely. Staff friendly and welcoming. Worth a visit.
We have been several times to the Blue Bell as a couple, but we were given particular service when we took all the family. In our party were three vegetarians, one vegan and three meat eaters and we were all beautifully catered for. We had a lovely evening.
While not a top-tier or luxury hotel, this establishment excels in all areas. The staff is welcoming, pleasant, and accommodating. The rooms are very clean, tidy, and quiet. The manager is one of the most charming hosts I've ever come across. The breakfast, cooked to order, is excellent. They even serve real coffee, and you can ask for refills! The location has good access away from the bar and exit to the front. Parking is convenient. I would highly recommend this place for its cozy comfort and reasonable price.
I recently stayed at this restaurant for three nights. The owner and staff were pleasant, friendly, and helpful. The room was decent, although a bit small. I understand that this is an old building, so room sizes may vary. The breakfast was excellent and dinner was very good. I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.
