Kickin Kasian - Northridge

These guys try to bite The Boiling Crab and they missed the brand. The sauce is weak and tasteless. I'd be willing to pay more if they could improve.

On this place, while in Northridge and was pleasantly surprised that this was actually one of the best Cajun seafood places I've ever been! Absolutely love this place! I've actually only been here twice but my mom comes here often with her friends. First time I came here was for a Yelp event a while ago! Super delicious.I ended up ordering the same thing this time which was the fried shrimp basket, original flavor. Super crispy and perfectly breaded. Their Cajun fries are SO good!! Nice and crispy and delicious dipped in every sauce. I can't choose which sauce is best so I switch around. There's the sweet chili, cusabi, tartar, and even the cocktail sauce! Squeeze some lemon and good to go. I've had their Thai tea last time but didn't get it this time since we were grabbing boba after but it was tasty and definitely recommended! We also ordered the soft shell crab basket and sides of rice. Can't go wrong and they give you a big serving of rice!!I believe our waiter's name is Tony/Toni? He took great care of us! Location 4: Busy part of Reseda, off Reseda Blvd. in a large shopping center. Plenty of free parking. No Valet. No EV charging.Venue 3: Basic indoor-only seating. Contemporary and bright inside decor. No reservations but you can get on the waiting list on Yelp. Always very very busy. One shortcoming is that there is no wait area and they told us not to wait inside and made us stand in the freezing cold for half an hour until a table was made available : Another thing I found strange was that they add a 3.5% surcharge to your bill. Why not just increase your prices by 3.5% if you have to?Food 4: Large selection of seafood boil in a bag and fried baskets. With seafood foil you get to add sides including rice, sausage, and boiled whole potatoes. There is also a selection of sauces and 10 spicy/temperature levels. Please see the menus I have posted for more details. The seafood boils are delicious but somewhat difficult and messy to eat out of the large plastic bags that they come in. Be prepared to get messy and dirty : They do provide gloves and bibs and there is a wash basin right there in the restaurant area to get cleaned up. We had the mussels boil with sausage and potatoes with the original Kickin Mix seasoning, mild, and also the fried shrimp and the Cheese Bites. All were delicious. Drinks 4: They serve beer, wine, sake, soju and non-alcoholic drinks. They also have mixed drinks made with beer different kinds of Michelada and a variety of Margaritas. I had the Thai Tea which was delicious.Service 4: Our server Katelyn was wonderful; very friendly and helpful.The last word 4: Overall a nice establishment with unique but messy food. I wish you could have the option of getting the seafood boil in a bowl. It would have been much easier to enjoy : As mentioned extremely busy so be prepared to spend a couple of hours at the least. Last wish is for them to add a wait area and outdoor seating. Will definitely visit again!
