Charming café with an impressive variety of treats available. The croissant was one of the best I've ever had, and the kids really enjoyed the small éclairs. I will definitely be returning!
If one asked me to name my top five guilty pleasures, no doubt french pastries would make their way into the list. Having tried out quite a few within Brisbane, there can be no question that Flour and Chocolate are one of the best in the business. With their little store on Morningside, I try to stop by every time I'm in the area, which unfortunately isn't that often. Fortunately for Adam, they opened up a second and far more bigger store at Northgate, a quick 15 minute train ride from his place, a grueling 2 hour trek from mine. But he was super keen and wanted to support the owners, so we went on opening day.
I was excited to know that Flour and Chocolate has opened another branch over in Northgate! Since moving over to the northside, I have not got the opportunity to return to the Morningside branch as it was relatively further away. This time, their shop is way bigger and you do not need to worry about parking at all, as they have parking on site. It is also a cafe based, if you want to enjoy some drinks and pastries on site. That day, my aim was to try some goodies and bring them back home.
Came here unplanned on Saturday morning. I happen to stumble upon this fine-looking cafe during my visit to the north side. Flour Chocolate Patisserie has a modern, white-dominated building, but gives off cozy vibes with all the hanging flowers on the outside. It was quite crowded when I came, so I decided to get a large Pistachio Eclair for takeaway. The cream was perfect, not too sweet yet refreshing; melting nicely as soon as it enters the mouth. The pistachio is not overwhelming either. It was a perfect balance between the pastry, cream, and nuts. Moreover, despite the crowdedness, I was served relatively quick, but that was because the staff rushed me to order. During my short visit, I also saw heaps of other pastry including croissants, individual cake slices, cupcakes, and many more. I would love to come back and enjoy other menus in the future, possibly during less busy hours!
