Riverside Hotel - Northam

Came here with the work colleagues as a dinner with about 6 of us. The food came out promptly and it was of a good quality. There was a nice ambiance and the staff were polite and friendly. Would recommend it for anyone who needs dinner in Northam.

Yes it's a federation era country pub, albeit sympathetically renovated in period style, and as a restaurant it has limited table service (order at the bar delivered to the table) with a chips dominated 'English styled' menu. Yep, everything operates from the main bar so on balance perhaps it's not a chic city-goers delight in terms of being a stand-alone restaurant ... but it is a pub! The food is good quality with reasonable serves, the layout is comfortable and suited to the climate (indoor and out), entertainment is regularly provided and above all the staff (and the publican) are invariably friendly and welcoming. The Riverside has become a regular drop in point for us, especially when we have visitors, knowing we will can always get a cold beer, a good house wine, and a square meal surrounded by friendly staff and a country pub atmosphere.

Thought we would try the Riverside Hotel foe dinner tonight, so glad we did. Family of 5, they do specials for $15 the specials tonight were Roast Turkey, Salt & Pepper Squid and Beef Stroganoff & Rice. Two if us had the Turkey one of us had the squid, my partner ordered off the menu (Hunter chicken, chips and salad) which meant my young one could get a kids meal for free (she had chicken nuggets and chips).All our meals were cooked to perfection soooooooo goooooood. Really good sized meals. Didn't have to wait long for our meals (although we did get her at 5:30pm it's now a quarter to 7 and man are they getting busy), friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit. PS the sticky date pudding was amazeballs.

What a lovely place and friendly service but the food was extremely disappointing. We ordered calamari, chips and salad and a chicken schnitzel and chips. Our wait was only about 15 minutes and we would have been happier to wait longer as we were served with a heated up schnitzel straight from the freezer section at the local supermarket and the calamari was also from a bag and not even cooked properly. We were so disappointed Such a lovely venue let down by substandard supermarket food.

Good luck to those that stay here. This would have to be one of the worst places i have stayed at and I have been to a few horrible places.Upon arrived there where around 4-5 men sitting outside the rooms drinking and most words coming out of there mouths were swear words.The room... well what can I say dirty comes to mind. We were to afraid to sleep in the sheets and slept on top of the beds. They were kind enough to leave out of date milk in the fridge so was unable to have a cuppa.We only got a few hours sleep with the pub guests still leaving at midnight to the very loud workmen next door room starting there trucks up at 5.30am. Every time someone would leave there room there door sliding was enough to wake the dead. I was lucky enough to have a bed next to the next room bathroom so all I could hear was their tap dripping through the wall.Yes I do understand that this is a old place to stay but i would not expect to pay the price we payed for what we got.So if you want a sleepless night a shower in the morning that is so dirty it makes you want to be sick this is the place to stay!
