Five stars rating is just underrated. I will give 10 to Aoyama Sushi. Sashimi is always fresh and their variety keeps me happy every time I visit. Always get recommendations from the manager. Professional and friendly staff. Eating environment is just like coming home but the food is professionally prepared. I’m very happy eating at Aoyama Sushi and I have recommended many of my new friends and clients to go there f... View all feedback.
What Spring Siu doesn't like about Aoyama:
The tuna sashimi in the sashimi platter was good, sea urchin was not fresh at all and portion was small, others sashimi are average. Shrimp tempura soba not worth to try. Monkfish liver is quite special. The cheesecakes are the regular ones so not bad. The weather was hot that day and I felt a bit hot, not sure if they turned the AC on. Only one server so he was busy in serving multiple tables. I would say my experie... View all feedback.
Step into this unassuming restaurant in a strip plaza like any you’d find across Scarborough. Entering will make you feel like you’re travelling back into simpler times, when simple sushi was new, exciting and exotic. No rolls with 3 different sauces drizzled on top with fried bits, no seared fish and no smoke and mirrors (or at least smoke from trendy dry ice that has made an appearance on tables lately). You’ll find one sushi chef, a few tables and a simple menu. The sushi omakaze for 2 is great value including nigiri of fresh fatty tuna, uni, eel, red snapper and home made sweet tamago omelette to name a few. The set comes with 3 appetizers, mine included edamame, monk fish liver in a tangy tomato sauce and a steamed egg chawanmushi with scallop. The nigiri is made with fresh fish and a perfect ratio to rice seasoned just right.Sit back in the slightly dated interior and savour every bite of this great simple sushi experience. The flavours are smooth and melodic, just like Kenny G that is playing in the background- ambience complete. Reservations recommended.
My fiancée and I went to Aoyama to celebrate a special occasion had a wonderful meal. The fish was fresh, the service was kind and attentive without being obsessive, and we were happy we made the trip out of the city to check this place out. I don’t often trust certain seafood like uni outside on Japan, but it was fantastic. Can’t wait to return.
Best unagi don in town! Double portion too! I started coming since they opened, actually started eating chefs' cooking before aoyama opened when chefs were at Katsura. Their food is always great and authentic!Unagi don fom $28 to $33, now back to $31. Business is tough, they need support! It's pretty slow during the week.
One of my favourite North York sushi joints. The VIP room is only open on weekends so you better book quickly because tables are limited. It was the first restaurant my BF took me to when we started dating and we make it a tradition to go once every fall season. The quality of the sashimi cuts are exceptional! I always take my best friends here
Sashimi and Sushi are really fresh and tasty. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. The place is a bit old but it is neat and clean.
