The Village Table Local Eatery

Shortly after the Village Table opened I tripped over it in a very hungry state and this was one of my most pleasant eating experiences yet on the North Shore. A RESTAURANT THAT NOT ONLY SERVES BOUTIQUE BREWS BUT OFFERS FOOD RAISED LOCALLY AND WITHIN 100 MILES!. What a coup! That dinner and others that followed, taking friends and family with me, rendered excellent, informed, friendly service, unbelievably tasty dishes, and great specials. It came highly recommended from me and now others have found the same unbelievable experience. The locals fill this location pretty much every night so I would recommend reservations...it is a small locale.

My husband and I went out to The Village Table tonight for dine out Vancouver. We were very disappointed. My husband ordered a vegetarian pasta and was served one with chicken mixed in so we had to wait for another order. I ordered the beef sirloin aaa angus beef which was revolting. It was a flank steak that was undercooked and tough as leather so it went back and another steak came back that was a thin little piece of flank steak. It was revolting again. The restaurant, while appologetic did nothing for the inconvenience. The bathroom was out of toilet paper and hand towels. This was an early dinner! We were very disappointed and we are not the couple who complain, but this was above and beyond terrible. I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake and waste their money!

We ate here as a large family with teenagers and young kids and the restaurant managed it all very well. They made sure that the kids got served quickly the adults got their drinks quickly and the overall service was very good. The food was good with a selection of specials as well. The Crab Cakes were very good and a large portion and the blackened cod burger was excellent. They have a seasonal pasta daily. All the food was very fresh that we had, which is what they say the provide. Modern and fun decoration.

What a great find this restaurant was! We ended up getting there for an early dinner after a day of kayaking. We were the only patrons so picked the seat closest to the front window. The waitress was very friendly! We wanted to share our plates rather than each getting an individual meal so we got the following - The blackened cod burger (melt in your mouth, so good! The mango avocado salsa was divine), Crab cakes (size of golf balls, these were so delicious! Again it had the famous mango avocado salsa - delicious), and lastly we had the Coconut crusted prawns (these were deliciously crunchy little things with a tangy dipping sauce). The meal was so good and very worth the money! We found it to be quite reasonably priced and we will definitely be going back there if we are ever in the area again!

What happened? I was here 2 years ago and food, service, ambiance was all good, tho noise always a factor with narrow shape and hard surfaces. This time I was embarrassed to have suggested coming. Going early meant kids and that's life. But there was no excuse for the swarms of flies around our food, our heads, our utensils. We mentioned the problem at least twice and the servers just nodded agreement, offering to swat around us!! Mexico, Asia was never this bad. I've never been subjected to a meal experience this bad, the food was tasty enough but who could enjoy it when fighting for each bite?Someone from health deptshould go there
