What Drazzic doesn't like about The Black Horse:
There is only a very limited choice of drinks so far the bar is cash only at the moment . No meals are being served. The manager has said that he hopes to be supplying meals in the new year View all feedback.
I recently had Sunday lunch at this restaurant and unfortunately had a few issues. First, I was informed that I couldn't pay by card, so I had to go to the ATM across the street to get cash. The ATM was broken, but luckily I was able to get cash back at a nearby shop. While waiting for our meal, we noticed a lot of people leaving food on their plates. When our food arrived, it looked appetizing, but the mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were cold. The vegetables were cooked nicely, but they were smothered in a thick gravy that was unpleasantly thick. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience and don't plan on returning for Sunday lunch.
Been to the Black Horse many times under previous owners but this was a first visit under the new owners. On arrival at 2.00pm was just two tables left which is always a good sign and plumped for the large table near the bay window. What struck me was the number of staff on duty and the warm welcome we recieved. The waitress informed us that it was cash only today which was not a problem for me but for any others there is a cash point across the raod at Spa. Our four drinks were very reasonably priced including my Moretti which was a good start. There were three or four starters of which we plumped for the Potatoes skins. Foer mains there were four choices on the menu beef, chicken, pork and lamb shank which my daughter had. The Yorkshiers were huge and done to perfection accompanied by roast potatoes, mash, cauliflower, turnip swede and sprouts and plenty of it. The starters were very reasonably priced and the mains just over £8.00. For those brave enough to finish there meal there is a sweets cabinet with lots of choice which looked delightful. Sadly all four of us were to full. All in all a very friendly and enjoyable experience so please give it a try.
I recently enjoyed Sunday lunch at this restaurant and found it to be very good. The portions were quite generous, so be sure to visit and try it out for yourself. Simon, you really know how to cook a delicious meal. We plan to return, but may opt for smaller portions next time.
Went to the black horse for Sunday lunch what can I say everything was amazing massive portions and excellent as well can't say any more
My wife and I visited the Blackhorse Pub in Monkseaton on Saturday 2/3/19 to watch the Westham vs Newcastle game. Unfortunately, the game was disappointing, but the food was incredible. I ordered the beef baguette and my wife had the prawn cocktail - both were delicious. I highly recommend trying it out, the best food ever!
