It was a good pub, very quiet. The food was good. It is a very old fashioned pub, only being active at certain points of the day, food can only really be ordered at lunch time. I had scampi and my family had haddock it was wonderful. View all feedback.
What Sarah Frauchiger doesn't like about The Ship:
The elderly gentlemen behind the bar was extremely rude to me when all i asked is if we could sit anywhere. he snapped at me that it was a pub!! Then i asked if the gammon came with pineapple or egg, and he snapped at me again. He made me feel as if id just walked in to his private house. we left sharpish. shame really as there was four of us prepared to try his food. View all feedback.
Landlord Vic Long built this pub on the coast at Portishead in the 1970s and has run it ever since. He is a gentleman and a local legend, and the pub has raised considerable funds for local charities. It's a large place with a lovely garden, lots of seating inside, and draught Bass from the barrel. I've never eaten there, so can't comment on the food. Large car park outside.
Had just left the Karting at Weston Lodge, there was 9 of us willing to spend good money for food and some juices/drinks. Got there at 13:25 and from the off, you felt very unwelcome. Landlord was rude, unhappy that he was going to be getting a large order for food as he was making it clear that they close at 14:30. The landlord has basically through away a group who would be spending over £200 on food etc but glad we didn’t stay, we left and went to the White Hart at Weston in gordano instead who were more than happy to serve us and far better hosts
Very old school. Don't expect up to the minute decor or an extensive menu. This is not a theme pub, it's not dressed up to be something it's not. It's a good, honest pub where you will get a pint that's as good as you'll get anywhere. Food served lunchtime only. Big car park. Stunning views over the Bristol Channel. Very hospitable landlord. Very reasonable prices. Pay by cash or card. Nowhere better to sit and watch the sun go down over a glass of your favourite tipple.

What a treat to stumble upon this place. Such a lovely, lovely traditional pub and Vic the owner couldn’t be more hospitable. Very friendly with a great view. Wish we were staying here for longer!
