The fish tacos on Friday are amazing! We have a background of enjoying white fish fries in New York and Pennsylvania, but have never been able to find a good non-perch frit here. View all feedback.
What Alverta Renner doesn't like about Backdraft Grille:
I recently revisited this bar after a few weeks and did not have a good experience. The bartenders were drinking heavily while on the job, and one of them even brought a group of friends with them. View all feedback.
So I am glad that I held off on my review here, because I had initial thoughts, which changed the very next week that I went. My initial thoughts had been their Menus are extremely difficult to read as they 're beaten badly. But the very next week they had new menus. Sweet! Their appetizers changed though, too. The first week they had these really yummy pretzel bites and the next time they were like rods. Just very different feel and my youngest did not appreciate the second week as much as the first. The wings are very good, well cooked and sauced so I have been surprised at the low patronage on a wing night . Wing night is .60 per wing in batches of 10... so $6 for 10. There are three pool tables, I think two dart boards, and No low table seating (my youngest doesn 't like sitting n higher bar-style chairs). The bartenders are very friendly, fast, and kind. The gentlemen bringing the food from the kitchen are nice and quick to fix, correct, or just help if you have a secondary request. All in all i recommend this location.
Local little bar with 3 pool tables and 3 dart boards. No drink specials and food is hit or miss lately. Not as good as it was when the previous cook was there and you might be lucky to find the kitchen open when you show up due to staffing issues. In the past the food was amazing but ordered a burger the other day and it was dripping with grease and the fries tasted like old fryer oil so I had to send it back which I never do but it was that bad. The prices are on par with a downtown nightclub and the pours are weak but they recently expanded and have to make up the income somewhere seeing as it's never really that busy. The draft beer actually never tastes flat as there is a constant rotation and I'm pretty sure they clean the lines often. They have Karaoke every week which can get a little busy and loud but the patrons and staff are truly amazing which is why I keep coming back.
We ended up here as we were looking for a restaurant that wasn't part of a chain. Growing up in the area I knew it would be a challenge to find such a place. However, I have no clue how the person who picked this found out about it. It is a BAR not a restaurant. Being a former drinker, I have not stepped foot in a bar so probably 20 years. Prior to that this might have been my kind of place. The clientele seemed to be older men. Then some younger men came in much later. The bar tenders were YOUNG and scantily dressed girls. Not slutty, just revealing a lot of skin. It was pretty clear we were the ONLY people just there for the food. So we seated ourselves at a table and the bartender/waitress brought us menus took our drink orders. The menu had a front and back and thank goodness a SALAD FOR ME! The offerings were your basic bar food and then some. Almost like a diner burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, daily specials and ONE SALAD. The prices were cheap! All under $10. I got the salad and requested grilled chicken be added. My hubby got the burger and fries and his assistant coach got the pork tacos. Bartended did a pretty good job of keeping our drinks filled (although I was the only one with a fountain drink but I drink quickly). My salad came out first. Hubby said to go ahead and eat (not politely wait for all food to show up) as I eat slow. So I did. The salad was like a nice homemade chef salad. Iceberg lettuce with shredded cheese, mushrooms (canned), diced chicken and LOTS of croutons. I don't do croutons so my hubby was happy to take them off my plate. In fact, I think he was glad I didn't eat them as the other orders took FOREVER to come out. That was my observation but neither of the other 2 with me even commented on the delay in their food. So I guess they were OK. The burger was a nice size and properly prepared but hubby was surprised that there was no lettuce, tomato, etc. There was, however, LOADS OF FRIES. The fries were nicely deep fried to the edge of crispiness. Hubby later said he MIGHT have been able to eat all the fries (he did not) had he not eaten several dozen of my croutons. I am told the pork taco was good and they provided a to go container for the extras and the eater can only eat small portions of food throughout the day. The assitant coach picked up the bill for us all so I don't know what the drinks cost. However, the price of food was so incredibly fair I imagine they are priced well too. So as I started off by saying this is a bar, not a restaurant. And for bar food this is crazy good. And fair priced. I recommend you come here is you're looking for a decent meal at a decent price and want a full bar experience to boot.
My husband and I came here last night for the first time. I 'm not familiar with the area, and I wanted some non-chain food good eats before catching a band play at another bar nearby. So I consulted the trusty Yelps for ideas and this place caught my eye! We caught the bartenders at shift change so it was a short bit before we were acknowledged and served our first drink, but it wasn 't a huge deal! The service for the remainder of our visit was prompt and friendly! The menu isn 't huge, but offers a nice variety of both typical AND not-so-typical bar fare. I ALWAYS have to try wings at a new place, so I got an order of medium-spicy bone-in wings and a buffalo chicken flatbread. My husband opted to go with the steak philly. (Both the flatbread and the philly decisions were based on fellow Yelpers ' recommendations! The wings came out crispy like I like them! Nice solid wings! They 're pretty big and the sauce was perfect! Just the amount of heat I prefer! The buffalo flatbread was delicious! It 's the perfect size for me to eat on my own (although I was nice and shared a bit with my husband! The crust was a bit soggy toward the middle, but the incredible flavor combination of the sauces, onions cheese overshadowed the soggy crust complaint ! (They didn 't skimp on the cheese on this one! Sooooo good!!! My husband 's steak philly was really good as well. I only had one bite but that bite was a tasty one! Again, they didn 't skimp in meat or cheese and it was wonderfully juicy! Everything we ordered I would definitely order again! Of course there would be a dilemma because of the other menu offerings I would like to try, like the fried mushrooms and/or mozzarella! Oh... and the prices? Such a deal!!!! Huge portions that won 't break the bank! So thank you, fellow Yelpers, for the great recommendation! You rarely steer me wrong!
Insane fish Friday's! The fish tacos are to die for! We grew up with white fish fries in NY and PA. We could never find a good non perch fry around here. The fish is so light, flaky and tasty! The warmed shell and crisp coleslaw is the perfect combo. It has a flavorful sauce drizzled topping it off. It's beautiful! Fried mushrooms delightful! The homemade batter awesome. Homemade ranch of course! Highly recommend!
