La Sera - North Melbourne
La Sera
Description
La Sera has garnered mixed reviews, balancing between service and food quality. Patrons appreciate the inviting atmosphere and family-friendly environment, with many praising the pizzas as delicious and fresh, especially after recent menu updates. However, the service leaves much to be desired, with reports of slow and inattentive staff overshadowing the dining experience. Complaints regarding hygiene, particularly restrooms, further taint the restaurant's reputation. While takeaway may be a safer bet, La Sera remains a local option known for its improved offerings, making it worth a visit if expectations are tempered.

Lazy night so we ordered in. Chicken parmigiana and gnocchi with four cheeses. The food arrived hot and fresh. Big serves and very tasty.
Since the place I wanted to have dinner was packed to the brim, I decided to give this place a try, and I have to say that I am really glad I did. Okay, it is a takeaway pizzeria, but they have a nice little...restaurant in the next room where you can sit down and have dinner with a beer or a nice glass of wine. I ended up having the Bolongese, which I have to say was nothing short of awesome. The staff were pretty good as well. Certainly a place that I would come back to for meal, especially if the other place, like usual, is packed.
Oh. My. God. It is two years since our last visit, and I both came and went with mixed feelings, as we had vowed not to give this place another chance. Credit where credit is due, though we needed a place where a group...of us could get together and be loud without disturbing others, so this ticked the boxes. And the pizzas were delicious between us, we ordered and shared a wide range of flavours and every single one of them was good. What bothered me, though, was the appalling service. Some more good natured guests than me tried to put it down to shyness, but seriously, even shy people are able to master basic manners. Our waitress had a face on her that would kill at ten paces; it took a good half hour to gently coax sufficient glasses and water bottles out of her to give everyone a drink. She then seemed surprised that we wanted to order real drinks, or that those of us who had brought wine bottles might want to actually drink the contents. Another good half hour passed before she deigned to bring a mixed selection of wine glasses two by two and each time looking surprised that 10 of the 12 diners wanted to have a drink. Eventually we all had a drink in hand and could tuck into our tasty pizzas. The rest of the evening continued in the same vein the level of service offered was zero, but after continued hard work, we were able to force a minimal amount of cooperation for a couple more drinks and two desserts. One last thing I'm no prude, but the toilets in this place are disgusting! Do not visit them before your meal. The toilet itself is OK, but there have been some revolting people in there decorating the walls with the contents of their nostrils and the quantity was astounding either every patron over the last ten years has left a souvenir, or the staff have some shocking personal hygiene issues. It raises serious questions about the hygiene levels in the kitchen. We didn't let it ruin our night, but we really won't be back again for a dine in experience. Next time it's takeaway, count your change and run!
Disgusting. Hair in my pasta dish Frozen cheese cake.. Not thawed totally a solid block of ice. 2 hours for delivery of a tasteless, cheap, poor quality meal. Had the La sera pasta .... Chicken was dry, cheap and probably frozen,Spinach was frozen. All the...ingredients in the pasta were clumped together in the middle in a ball of cheese surrounded by lily pasta. And a huge curly black hair topped it off. Pizza was average at best cheap ingredients. Just a truly awful meal
So waited for 3 hours for a pizza promised in 90 minutes. Rang to check... Promised it would be there soon... Waited 30 minutes longer than promised for the second time... But this time BBQ sauce came on a veggie mushroom pizza... An ingredient not...on the menu... Rang to complain... No answer again and again.. Just wanted a good mushroom pizza without ham and without BBQ sauce as the menu promised but no joy... The pizzas that arrive as planned aren't bad, but they stuff too much up... Give them a wide berth
