I visited 7:15 this evening and was surprised how unprofessional the environment was. They weren't rude or something, but there was no sound. One of the workers' sisters was in the store and went behind the counter. She had 3 small children with her walking around the restaurant. Even with 2 officers eating in the store, it was not a good culinary experience. View all feedback.
I didn't realize they offered burgers, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was juicy and absolutely delicious. The fries were great as well!
We stopped at this restaurant during our travels today. Since this is one of our favorite spots back home in Houston, we decided to make a stop on our way back from Missouri. While the food still has great flavor, the service was excessively slow. I think management could improve by training employees to be more aware of sanitation practices, such as wearing hair nets if they have long hair, avoiding AirPods unless they're on break, and ensuring they accurately handle both dine-in and carry-out orders. It shouldn’t take nearly 25 minutes for a single sandwich, especially with only 3 or 4 people ahead of us and a few carry-out orders (not to mention that our order was incorrect, which added to the delay). With six employees on the line, orders should be ready in half that time (as a chef, I can attest to that). The restaurant has the potential to do much better with quicker, cleaner, and more accurate service.
I called this place today to place a pickup order. The employee answered the phone and without even waiting for me, put me on hold. He just sat on the phone. I heard him laughing and joking with someone in the lobby. At first I thought it was an order, but after about 5 minutes being in hand and hearing several stories, no order was taken. I might have decided I had to call again to remind him that I was still waiting. I hung up and waited a few minutes and tried to call back, but apparently he still had me under control. We decided to just go there and place the order. When we came in, there were 3 employees present. There was no urgency of 2 of the staff, in fact, one of the men was more interested in the Saints Football game on TV than he with support ANYONE. The lobby began to fill tp with customers who had ordered online or by phone. I saw at least 5 different people in and the answer was always the same, oh yes, we work on it. After about 20 minutes we had our sandwiches with others still on their. I got no chance to catch the names of these employees, but I can assure you this is not what we expect when we visit a firehouse! We will NOT return to this particular, no matter how close it is. Not after 5 star experience here only a little professionalism and SOME customer service.
So the place is good, I will give them that. The theme is great I used to be a firefighter so the décor always makes it fun to go, especially with children. But the food has to stand apart from the rest of the places that sell similar food, in this case subs. I believe what really separated Firehouse Subs from the rest of the local sub shops was their hot sauces they had prior to the virus that scared the world. Post pandemic when everything opened back up the sauces did not return. I was curious as to why, and I was told by one store that people would handle the bottles and it became unsanitary. When they said that I looked at the soda machine which has 120 varieties of soda you can choose from by the push of a button. I believe Firehouse Subs is missing the mark on this which is why I gave only 3 stars. Bring back the sauces because the subs are no longer unique from other sub places. I hate leaving reviews like this but unfortunately they used the pandemic as a reason to eliminate what set you apart from the rest.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff seemed unhelpful and made it difficult to order even a simple sandwich. My child has several allergies, and it was crucial to limit the ingredients to just four specific items. Unfortunately, they did not handle the order correctly. Overall, it was quite frustrating.
