Many patrons appreciate the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, often commending their hard work during busy evenings. While the quality of food receives high praise, some guests report long wait times and occasional stock shortages, particularly during peak hours. Despite these hiccups, the overall experience is enjoyable, with regulars cherishing the pub's charm and the allure of its ever-changing offerings. Whether it's a casual family meal or a lively evening out with friends, the Radcliffe Arms continues to attract a loyal following.
One of my favorites in Hitchin. The menu changes quite often, but there is always at least one large vegan pizza option (or one that can be changed by swapping for vegan cheese), as well as one or two of the one-pot menus, as well as appetizers and desserts – they do a vegan brownie or ice cream sunflower. The pub itself is welcoming and funny, and the garden is great. Social distancing was good when we were in the reopening, and the order via the app is very convenient. This was my first visit to The Radcliffe Arms and my Husband joined me, for a Christmas meet up, with a local group I'm involved in. It was nice to meet in person, in a relaxed atmosphere. Some people I'd only seen on Zoom before. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and drink. I had the vegan Spicy Koftas, with a Christmas Ruby Ale. He had the pizza of the month, which had fig and prosciutto on, with Lucky Saint non alcoholic beer, as he was driving. He found it delicious and commented on the difference a wood smoke oven made. As I like really spicy food I put chilli oil on mine. It came with pearl couscous, salad and olives and was quite filling. I declined a coffee, but my husband enjoyed his. All in all, a nice evening out.
You can't really go wrong with Charles Well Pizza, Pots, and Pints venues. Always top quality pizzas. It would get a 5 star review if only they stocked a premium draught Ale. GhostShip is not to my taste. Too hoppy!
The pizza was very delicious. However the service was very poor. We waited for 1 hour for 2 pizzas. When the pizzas finally arrived, nobody apologised for the waiting. I understand it was a little busy, but they should have warned us about the waiting when we ordered the food (normally in other pubs the staff tell the customers if there are delays). Plus the drinks are so expensive.
