Basil Thai elevates Charleston's already top notch Restaurant reputation even higher. 1st, the bar is nice but not overwhelming. Good presentation and stiff enough. Food is where this place takes flight. Scrumptious variety of Pad Thai. Gluten Free. Spicy if you request spicy. Currys are aromatic. Highly recommended. View all feedback.
What Nicholas Fitton doesn't like about Basil Thai Park Circle:
Have had a lot of Thai food. Y?all went heavy on the mint on all of the platters. Missing the real Thai ingredients in all the dishes. The fried wings where excellent though. The nam tum lacked flavor. The dumplings where sub par. . There was no option for Thai hot or spicy when ordering which was disappointing. Food did arrive hot and freshly cooked. For 100 bucks I really expected more flavor and the traditional fr... View all feedback.
I enjoyed my experience. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was different and tasty. I was disappointed that the hours of operations are short. The bathroom was clean. It was a beautiful experience. I encourage you to visit and see Jah (I think that is the correct spelling). If not, I apologize in advance.
This is our go-to Thai food restaurant. My wife and I agree that the food is good, but it's pricey. Not a lot of Thai options in SC. I guess that gives them the right to price gouge.
My one and only go to meal at Basil. Love it very much.
I used to love this restaurant's another location in downtown Charleston until they permanently closed that spot.Pros- Friendly serviceVery generous portionCons- Honestly, food was not great .The smell of pad thai seems ok but it was not really delicious or close to pad thai what I used to enjoy when I actually eat it.My duck sauce was very salty and you can say it's oyster sauce base and it's rather close to chinese style.Again to be fair, service and other things I was satisfied but definitely need to check the recepie and think about the food itself.
I’ve been going to basil since they were downtown (for decades). I love this restaurant. The only thing that was annoying is that I ordered pad Thai which comes with shrimp and chicken. Given that I’m vegetarian, I asked for tofu pad Thai. The tofu pad Thai was great, but what was annoying is that they charged extra for tofu, when I didn’t get the shrimp or chicken. By that logic, shouldn’t they have deducted the meats? Or at least charged the same? That was annoying.
