I've heard the reviews. I've seen friends eat here. We started our trip with a stop here and we were amazed! Real pickerel. No extra thick, floury batter to get in the way. Just pure pickerel taste! Fries are amazing as well and the coleslaw...is homemade and fresh. $15 a plate...sure...you can pay $12 at another joint, but you're not gonna get this quality. Unreal fish n Chips folks. Served hot and fresh and with a... View all feedback.
What Bernardo Lovato doesn't like about Jocko Point Fish and Chip:
Walleye was not fresh, and son fish had a hair in batter. Will not stop again. Told by lady it was Nipissing walleye. Had I known, I would not have stopped here, as read on Toronto Star website that Nipissing walleye is in trouble because of over-catching with nets. We will stick to chip stands around Peterborough. In order to celebrate some positive medical news, I decided to take a trip up north, away from the current virus situation. After booking a room in North Bay, I ventured to the beach and stumbled upon Jocko's Point Fish Chips, located just off the Trans Canada Highway. While the restaurant doesn't offer a view of the lake, it provides a pleasant picnic area to enjoy your meal. I ordered the 2 piece Pickerel Dinner and was pleasantly surprised to receive a generous portion of perfectly cooked fish. The light dusting of batter and fresh cut fries were delicious, and the meal came at a reasonable price which included a drink and taxes. The staff at Jocko's Point Fish Chips were friendly and genuinely cared about ensuring customers enjoyed their experience. Overall, I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone in the area.
My brother McLeod has turned his dream business into a masterpiece. His fish and chips, specifically the walleye dinner, is the best I have ever had. I first tried it in Canada and all my friends agree it is the best in North Ontario, possibly even all of Ontario. I guarantee it. If you find yourself traveling through North Bay on Highway 17 towards Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, be sure to stop by.
Excellent fish and chips, with very fresh pickerel. some of the best we had in years and the portions were huge! the prices were reasonable. the staff was very friendly. it rained just before we arrived, and one of the workers was from the drying all. very clean.
We have heard so much of jockos fish and chips that we plan a trip there to experience for ourselves. When we were handed over our meal, we both looked at each other. we were going so far? it was good, but shocked. the amount of fish we got. many chips and a few stripes fish. not worth the 36.00 for a load of chips.
There are over a dozen diff fish and chip stands in the area. Over the last 10 years have tried almost all of them. Once we tried Jocko Point, we havent gone anywhere else since. Lightly breaded Fresh Pickeral caught right out of lake Nippising...is delicious. If your not feeling the fish there are literally 30 diff items to choose from. If youre passing through Northbay look up jocko Point fish and chips! You wont be dissapointed.
