The Red Squirrel Pub - North Ayrshire

We often visit the Red Calibre restaurant. The staff is always friendly and happy, and we have never had a bad meal there. The carvery is brilliant and the pie is delicious. I would recommend trying it out. It is very child-friendly, especially with the small play area outside. We will definitely be back again.

Not busy, but the personal (gerard) was first-class with service and ease, could not blame him at all. remembered my elders who are always beautiful to see. like all restaurants is wein much too expensive. eating was nice, but I prefer it hot instead of just...why visit was made better by their nice fellow worker taking the time to chat and attention.

Absolutely awful breakfast, everything was burnt except from the egg and beans. I was their with my friend who told the server that she has an allergy to eggs which her breakfast was correctly made without an egg but there must have been cross contamination...in the kitchen as she needed to take her epipen afterwards. I will not be back and have already told many people about this so they don’t waste their money.

Great service and friendly staff. Very clean and warm rooms. Food was excellent. Stayed for a work trip.

Visited The Red Squirrel in Stevenston recently and it was a disaster. It usually has a Carvery which, on this occasion, was being handled from the kitchen to the table as the carvery hot plates were not working and apparently Marston's maintenance don't regard it...as urgent. Eh! When our choices of carvery' arrived most of the vegetables and the stuffing were inedible and the amount of meat was very poor the correct number of slices but very small slices. One of our party ordered Tomato soup which again was inedible as it was the consistency of thick tomato sauce you could stand a spoon in. We have visited and reviewed The Red Squirrel many times in the past and it has been quite good and certainly value for money but not on this visit. The serving staff and manageress seemed embarrassed and offered to discount our Bill, however I would have preferred to have had a good meal and not a spoiled visit. I also despair at any kitchen/cooks who would think it acceptable to serve such meals to customers. On the other hand one of our party had a burger and rated it very good.
