Great authentic atmosphere in the hotel. The food is of great portions and true to menu description.
They use great, fresh produce for the meals.
The staff were so welcoming we felt very at home.
Would make a great 'local' if I lived closer to the area. View all feedback.
What Orland Cormier doesn't like about The Daniel O'Connell Irish Pub and Restaurant:
No sparkling mineral water , waited 25 min for meal and we were the only two people in the restaurant. I ordered the crab special, out comes this lovely looking blue swimmer crab, however no crab meat in the claws and body. Also had an ammonia smell. The prawns were very watery as if they had been sitting in water after defrosting .The seared tuna tasted like it was defrosted. Be careful what you order View all feedback.
Honest review here. Went for dinner last Thursday night. Not been for around 2 years as was not good then but giving it another chance. Disappointed again. Ordered kids fish and chips, steak special (sirloin and scalloped potatoes), my sister ordered fish special and also sweet potato fries on side for all of us. The menu is fairly basic, even for a pub. Firstly, location is great and plenty of parking on the street that night, and decor of restaurant itself is very nice, you'd think they'd be alot busier. But there were only 2 other tables there at 6pm. So we expected great service and quick food on the table. Sadly, drink orders were forgotten and they took over 15 minutes to take first order. There was only 2 serving tables that night so maybe understaffed? But 3 tables? C'mon. Sweet potato wedges - soggy. Kids fish and chips was frozen packet quality. My sister's fish was cod fillet, and not cooked in the middle. .Vegies tasteless. The steak sirloin was about the only thing that was cooked well but slightly chewy and the scalloped potatoes were greasy and plain. We had coffee affogato later on and that was surprisingly very good - well done there. Dinner for 6 circa $300 and we left still feeling hungry. NOT giving this place another chance. Reading other reviews it seems i can only agree - this place has so much potential. The ambience is great and if only they had a decent chef, better service, and probably a better choice of menu. If they're wondering why no one goes here, the above is why. Bottom line - for decent pub food go somewhere else. Service and quality is below average,

This establishment has so much potential, but unfortunately, every time we have dined here, the food has let it down. Such a shame as it’s quite a nice restaurant and the pub is really cosy on a rainy day. Service was not so friendly from the lady behind the bar, she seemed distracted and not really interested in customer service, maybe she was just having a bad day? We ordered the burger and the seafood stew, burger pretty good, seafood stew was not up to the standard it should have been. The seafood was not good quality and the prawns had already been precooked and then place on top of the dish, the stock lacked depth of flavour and really needed shells, heads, bits, pieces, anything seafoody to lift this dish. I will, however make mention that I did speak to the chef about this dish and he was totally understanding and not arrogant! Rare hey! Take my hat off to you. It’s very difficult to face criticism and take it on board without thinking that the customer is a know it all food snob, amongst other colourful thoughts! But to do that successfully, to me, seems you really do care about what is coming out of your kitchen. Thanks guys.
