What Murat Esser doesn't like about Pete's House Restaurant:
The guy cooking did NOT wash his hands! Yuck! Watched him rubbing his nose then cooking. If he doesn't wash his hands then what else is dirty? I won't be going there again and I don't recommend it. View all feedback.
I always had good food and service when it was still open. Pete ran away, and then Jim, the property owner, ran the restaurant until early 2016. I like Jim's cooking as much as Pete. This was the only restaurant in North Bend unfortunately, and the future of the establishment is up in the air now as kitchen equipment has been removed.
Had a wonderful time, sat on the patio all four of us ate the special, Fish and chips with salad and dessert (pie, with or without ice-cream), the fish was excellent, after dinner Pete and his wife Genevieve (I hope I got that right) came out and we all had a great time talking about anything and everything. As the Sun set behind the Mountains and it cooled off we said our thanks for the great service and made our way out, in the car we discussed coming back (even before leaving the parking lot). My out of town guests had already decided they were coming back and my wife and I will be going back next chance we get.
If you're ever travelling through the canyon on highway 1, and you are passing through Boston Bar, take a little detour and head across the river to North Bend. Just up the road you will find Pete's House Restaurant. Whatever you're craving, you will leave this place satisfied. Everything is made in house and fresh, and the guy is a professional chef. Breakfast, burgers, or even the meatloaf or schnitzel, it's all delicious. Pete and his wife keep the place going, and they are very nice people. A local favourite of residents, and of the many railroaders that stay in the town regularly. Will keep going back whenever in town, which is fairly often.
We love going there because they are friendly and we always feel welcome and they serve great food at a good price at Pete's
Pete Rees knows and loves food. And it shows! I first met Pete in a professional sense when I was setting up a social for the Pharmasave, Hope, staff a few years ago, when he ran the Driftwind kitchen in Hope, B.C When I told him my challenges trying to satisfy about 24 largely female staff, he told me to fun 3 courses of his deluxe gourmet appetizers. We had a staff meeting last week, and it still rates as one of our best outings. Now he is in a new zone, "cabin in the woods", in North Bend, B.C All the window views were the natural outdoors, and the indoor views were in the train theme, but including a copy of the newspaper cover of the Hope Slide, years ago, but still a major rural North American story. True to style, the ingredients were excellent, and done with style, at a pauper's price! The coffee served, simple enough, at this Sunday brunch had chocolate overtones, a dark blend, short of the bitterness some object to. We loved it! We recommend it to all Fraser Canyon travellers who can tolerate a 5 minute drive off Highway
