Bagel Cafe - Norristown

I love this bagel shop! The lady working there is super sweet and always friendly. I love supporting small businesses, and their bagels always taste super fresh. My favorite bagels are the "all hers" and "lumpe."

I went with a friend to a doctor's appointment and needed to find a place to eat afterwards. We came across Bagel Cafe. When we entered, we saw an employee sitting behind the counter who didn't get up to greet us. When I asked if they could help us, my friend decided on a sandwich and I wanted to order a bagel. The employee finally got up from their seat, fumbled around with a pencil at the cash register, and seemed rushed. They then asked if we had money to pay, to which I replied that I did not have any. The employee said their machine was not working, which was not communicated to us when we arrived. My friend felt uncomfortable and suggested we go somewhere else. We were unsure if it was a simple mistake, but we will not be returning to this establishment. They need to improve their customer service.

The other day, I had a delicious nova lox with cream cheese bagel at this restaurant. It was one of the best lox sandwiches I've ever had.

In a time, in the chain restaurants and mass production are ubiquitous, mom pop shops like these stand as unmistakably comfortable, cheerful experiences. the taste, the variety and the fresh of the offered bagels cannot beat from something else in the opposite. the last time I had a garlic bagel, I was a little child many years ago and they make the breakfast sandwiches with real whole irons, not something from a karton as they would get in chain stores. monna, the woman at the desk of most days, is a paragon of the friendly customer service. Even if she is knee-deep in order, she welcomes anyone who comes into the door and she has a life-saving that I have seen in very few people. there is a reason why they bring back many customers. in today's world, where in the rule they wait only a number in a line to get food from a assembly chain, offers monna old fashioned, personal customer service reminded of happier, easier times.

My wife and I love coming here. Mona is always cheerful and full of life! She is never not happy and loves to converse with her customers. The food is always fresh, and the portions are very generous.
