What happens when an amazing food truck transitions into a restaurant? You get inventive dishes, speedy service, and an atmosphere that feels like a nostalgic gathering spot from your younger days. We enjoyed a delightful array of tacos and Vietnamese iced coffee, along with an item from the specials board—too much food to handle, but we couldn't say no and ended up rolling out of there! I can't wait to return and sample more; everything sounded so delicious!

I had the pleasure of trying the unique offerings at Algorithm, a food truck that stands out on the street. I sampled their signature Cheese Fries and the intriguing Soy Sauce Fries. The Cheese Fries were a delightful mix of crispy and soft, generously topped with creamy melted cheese—a true treat. However, the Soy Sauce Fries, while equally thick, were quite salty, which masked the natural flavor of the fries. The excellent service at Algorithm added a welcoming touch to the overall experience, making it a food truck that I would gladly revisit for its cheesy delights and creative menu items.

Algorithm has become our household's go-to spot for fantastic vegan comfort food since they opened. Matt, the owner, often works the register and clearly puts a lot of love and thought into crafting a menu filled with unique yet classic dishes that would satisfy even the most skeptical meat-loving omnivore. When he's not taking orders or making recommendations, he circulates to check in with customers and see if they need anything. I've visited enough times to have tried nearly the entire menu, so I usually opt for whatever special item they have, as those frequently change. Today, I had the Manchurian Chili Carrot Dog—a house-made Carrot Not Dog topped with Lentil Pea Manchurian Chili, Raita, and Cucumbers on a Sweet Potato Roll—and paired it with a Dirty Chai Milkshake. It was the perfect lunch combo. I'm also a huge fan of the Nashville Hot, and I think the Cheesesteak might be my favorite vegan cheesesteak in the city! The Breakfast Sandwich and Korean BBQ Fries are also fantastic. Plus, the sweet treats, often some sort of decadent and inventive cheesecake, are always a delight. I appreciate the free cold water and the focus on compostable takeout containers. A shoutout to Cody and the rest of the wonderful staff as well! Despite its location near the busy intersection of Passyunk, 5th, and Bainbridge, directly across from Philly Aids Thrift, the front of Algorithm can be easy to overlook. But you'd be making a mistake if you missed it!

Great food, great people, what's not to love? Best vegan Nashville Hot and breakfast sandwich for sure. Best/only vegan Reuben? Delicious! In the running for best vegan cheesesteak too. Drunk and hungry on South Street? Stop on by! Sober and in the neighborhood? Stop on by! (Zero proof beers on offer. Small shop with rockin' music, eat-in or take-out. Don't sleep on the specials!
