Contribute FeedbackOverall, the restaurant received mixed reviews with some customers praising the exceptional service and delicious meals such as the Risotto and beet salad. Others, however, were disappointed with the slow service and bland food, feeling it was overpriced for what they received. The staff was consistently highlighted for being accommodating and welcoming. Despite some shortcomings, the elegant and cozy atmosphere was generally well-received. Customers particularly recommended the roasted mussels, short ribs, bread pudding, she crab soup, and key lime pie. While some dishes like the scallops and calamari were criticized, the overall experience was positive for many diners. The restaurant was commended for social distancing measures during Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week, with standout dishes including the Roasted Margaret Duck and Cedar Plank Scottish Salmon. It was suggested to visit during quieter times to fully enjoy the experience.
We had a bad experience. We requested a booth so we could sit next to each other. They sat us at the table for four in a tight corner with plenty of other tables and booths open never had guest seated in them for the 2 1/2 hours we were there. Our reservation was at 7 PM. We didn’t even place our order for dinner until 815. The service was slow. we ordered a salad from the menu and they gave us a different salad when we brought it up to the waiter he said he and the kitchen weren’t aware of the menu change. I find it hard to believe we were the first one to order this haystack salad. We didn’t get our dinner until 850. We ordered a ribeye steak, medium. They served us a blue (raw) steak and the meatloaf. At this point it was too late. I didn’t even want to eat. I had enough we took the food to go. I was very disappointed. I was so excited to go and try this restaurant. What a disappointment?
Todd Jurich’s Bistro is Norfolk’s best restaurant. Consistently delicious food and a friendly and professional wait staff.
Italian wine dinner was excellent. Really enjoyed the pairings and great food. Looking forward to another wine dinner soon-great value for the cost.
The food was ok. Nothing special. The salmon was a bit dry and off putting due to the fishy smell. My side dish was substituted from asparagus to spinach without any notice because they “haven’t been able to get asparagus in for the last 2 weeks”. The overall experience wasn’t terrible, but the food does not align with the price.
Very nice. Good steak properly cooked. Good wine selection. Great service.
