As far as restaurant vibes go, this is one of my favorite places in the 757 area code. We have been here before for dinners, but never for the Easter brunch. It was phenomenal. The food was outstanding, and the servers were hustling to make sure that everything was full at all times. Despite the fact that it was a buffet and we didn’t need much service, I still felt that our server was attentive to any of our needs. Grain will continue to be a place that I return to again and again.
The venue wasbright and airy and very inviting. The buffet set up was beuatiful and from the aspect of you eat with your eyes first, it exceeded my expectations. Our server was nice and checked in on us regularly. I was, as were my companions, disappointed in the carving station. My prime rib was easily 80% fat and the balance was overcooked. My wife asked for an end piece and hers was well done. I went back to try some ham, and the carver cut a top portion and before I could ask him for slices, he placed the fat cap portion on my plate. The balance of the buffet was delicious from the omlet station, to the braised carrots, whipped potatoes and the lamb stew. The ambiance, the guitar player and the company made for an enjoyable Easter Brunch.
