Commune NFK offers a vibrant setting perfect for casual hangouts and special gatherings. Patrons rave about its commitment to locally sourced ingredients and the friendly, attentive service. The ambiance, characterized by a chic warehouse vibe, adds to its appeal. Menu highlights include flavorful cocktails and well-prepared dishes like chicken and waffles, though some items can be disappointing with bland flavors. Diners appreciate the community-focused initiatives and events, but inconsistencies in food quality and portion sizes have been noted. Overall, Commune is celebrated for its atmosphere and potential, making it a notable spot in downtown Norfolk.

Super friendly, fast and knowledgeable service in commune. began at 9:30 on Saturday, so be ready to wait when they are not early. pickle board was huge and amazing, crispy potato bowl (plus brisket! was amazing filling out. highly recommended.

We came on a weekday when they only had bar/counter service, and was pleasantly surprised with quality of food and service. We found street parking easily, as there is free 2 hr parking around the area. Note, we did come as soon as they opened around 1000. Though it was self serve mostly, the girls working were plenty attentive to our needs. We had our two dogs with us and so we were sitting outside on the patio, but the girls working brought us water for the dogs and an umbrella to keep us shaded on the hot sunny day. For food we got the eggs benedict and the fried chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious! Eggs benny had some brisket which was on the saltier side but paired well with the greens. We didnt expect the fried chicken salad to be cold, but also it was surprisingly tasty. Definitely seems to be good for bigger groups as indoor seating was plenty and they also have a large patio area lining the sidewalks. Would definitely be back!

Our first visit to Commune NFK will be our last. The service was really slow--it took 10-15 minutes just to get our coffee drinks--and the menu is overpriced and the food, mediocre. My flavored latte was $7.50. Mimosas were $10-$12 each. Very small brunch portions. A beautiful space, but a frustrating dining experience.

I actually really love Commune, but mostly for the vibes, staff, and farm to table set up. A good spot to hang out and do work with some coffee and nibbles. They have GREAT customer service too. But the food itself is alright at best. Some things aregood: their cocktails, their brisket, their eggs. But otherwise, there's a distinct lack of flavor. I got one of the bowls lasttime and it was really disappointing (chicken was so bland, unseasoned rice but the veggies and pesto were good! . My husbandhad a burger that was very dry. My gin cocktail was amazing though!! So just be concious of what you order and don't be afraidto be specific about what you want. Ask the staff their opinions too! Commune is a staple in downtown Norfolk but because I loveit, I gotta be honest.

I had heard about this place and their hyper-local sourcing of ingredients. But it was kind of a bummer. I had their equivalent of a French dip and it was ok, but the only real flavor I was getting out of it was salt. The other diner I was with had afried chicken sandwich that seemed to me was over cooked. It was very dark like it had been fried too long and had a slightlybitter burned flavor. It wasn't horrible, the wait staff were very nice. But I probably wouldn't go back.
