Great restaurant located in a trendy little street in downtown Duesseldort. Very picturesque. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from, but we made the right choice. The service and food were amazing. I tasted my son's Rumpsteak and it was the best I have ever tasted. Since it is a spanish restaurant I chose the Paella and a glass of Sangria. Both delicious. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Gitano:
The food is delicious but the prices are exaggerated. I had a plate of Spanish ham and melon that cost €11 but the portion was too small. I followed that with a meat skewer and side salad which was delicious again but costly at €17. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, give this one a try along with the others and decide for yourself. View all feedback.
Guest: Franz Josef We stayed on 13.12.2017 with 25 guests from the 52222 Stolberg in El Gitano. Without reservation we were accommodated at different tables, all were very satisfied with the ordered foods and drinks. We thank you very much for the service that served us friendly and accommodating. Since I was a guest at the El Gitano, I could recommend this restaurant to my friends who were confirmed and reworked during further visits in Düsseldorf.
We stayed on 18.12.2015 with a 14-person group in the restaurant (table was previously reserved. 3 tables were assembled beforehand, with 2 tables shaking clearly. Only after the application was the defect recovered by the setting of beer lids. The aperitif came fast, which is mentioned positively here. It took a long time from there. At first 3 different dips were placed on the table, but the bread was not served. About 15min later the beverage order was received, and I spoke the service with the missing bread. We were then relatively given. Under a bank, the heating was so strong that you almost burned and that at 15 degrees outside temperature. A question if you could turn the heater down. This question would not have been asked best, it was unfriendly. When the 1st round of drinks came, one of the group said that if the glass was almost empty, he could get a new unrequired. He didn't know. They always had to call the service to order drinks. When the food came (positive, all 14 were served within 4min, the disappointment was very large. One had an onion soup as an appetizer (a bag soup would have been qualitatively better. Two had fillet tips with champions. The mushrooms came from the can. I had Rumpsteak with Röstzwiebeln and Pommes. The onions were good. The steak was medium, but of maximum medium quality (right company and 2 tendons (price about 19, €). The crown came to the end when we wanted to pay together. The service has always received only the ordered goods of 2 persons, then went to check-out, printed from the Buck and paid out. Then he went to another table and served the guests there. After that he came back to our group at one point and took again with 2 guests, submitted to the cashier, buck and cash. This whole process took 45 minutes. Unfortunately, there are no negative stars for the service. It should be said that it is urgently necessary to renovate. The soap dispenser no longer has a lid, etc. Conclusion: Our group will see NIE more there.
Ordered salmon steak, delivered salmon fillet. then there were things on the menu that did not exist. A dish was a salad that didn't come. A guest ordered pommes instead of the associated rice. The food came with rice. the pommes were then delivered after the complaint. Also ordered drinks did not come, only at the 2nd attempt
We have been here for almost 20 years and enjoy the mood and the unchanged ambience. The whole alley flows from a holiday feeling and in the El Gitano you can also enjoy the appropriate food. The quality of food is good and the price-performance ratio is right. It is recommended to visit the lunchtime. Then 'feeling' is not a holiday, but the lunch card compensates for the selection and pricing for a hard working day.
The El Gitano joins many Spanish restaurants in the Schneider-Wibbel-Gasse. You have the impression that the restaurants belong together. Nonetheless we have eaten very tasty in the El Gitano and the service was also very friendly. That's right for a Spanish evening. Not very cheap, but of good quality.
