1 o'clock and pouring with rain. Here was shelter. The place was full and buzzing nicely, it looked and felt like a brasserie from a TV play. Quintessentially France. The menu de jour, nothing fancy. Two fishy courses and a splendid bottle of Muscadet later and even the sun came out to play. Special mention must be made of the accompaniment to the main course, a light egg flan with tiny dice of red pepper and aubergine, one of the nicest things I've eaten in a while. Wish there were more places like this around.
What Bernard Lopes doesn't like about Brasserie de l'hotel de ville:
Lors d'un repas en famille, nous avons constaté que les plats préparés n'étaient plus aussi bons qu'avant... Pas d'assaisonnement, viandes trop cuites, et le temps d'attente beaucoup trop long...Peut être un manque de personnel en cuisine...Quel dommage, quand on a connu mieux avant. View all feedback.
Have visited here regularly for Moto gp weekend. Used to be great as it served drinks and food all evening Fridays to Sunday. So disappointed to find this year the bar closed at 7 every day dispite plenty of people looking for food and drink. The whole town was difficult for eating and drinking after 7pm especially Sunday where almost everywhere was closed. How will this ever service a tourist town??? Buffalo grill in outskirts of town was packed so there is clearly market. Will not be returning or recommending!!
So I came to this town just to eat and sleep and move on the next day and for dinner I decided to eat at the BHV. Things on the menu are very affordable and being a bit of a carpaccio enthusiast, curiosity was triggered and I went for the Grand Carpaccio which was on the main course section. I must say there was a lot of carpaccio and it wasn't bad, but the cook might want to visit some other places and experiment with dressing the carpaccio a bit. On the carpaccio were lettuce, a few tomato slices on the side, a lemon, a few olives and a litre of olive oil. I drank the local wine (the cheapest) which went down very easy so I was tempted to order another 0,5 litre, I'd recommend it unless you're into the heavier red wines. Then came the desert, the BHV ice cream. It was very tasty, I hope they'll never change it. All in all I left the restaurant quite satisfied.
Several lovely meals here Fresh and full of flavour Service very good. Lovely outside terrace as well as cosy indoor bar and restaurant.

Pas de caractère, déjeuner pour une halte rapide, service simple sans recherchecarte peu élaborée et sans découverte
